I have used Turbo Tax for over 30 years, it is the best tax program out there for regular people

Turbotax is starting to suck.

2024 Turbotax Premier does not work the same on a Mac as it does on a Windows machine. On the Mac, your software was difficult, didn't provide supporting information easily, and was going to cost me $3700 more in taxes than on the Windows version.
Also, the upselling is obnoxious, and the surprise fees at the end to file....don't remember ever having to do that in the past. Will be looking for alternatives to TurboTax for 2025.

The experience was good although I have trouble with compound questions like did you do this and this....because if one is no they both are....and that always makes me nervous.
I had a great deal of anxiety because I had gotten used to using the CD (that is what I learned first) and I am a disaster with the computer...more so as I get older. I would have preferred just paying the $10 more up front...as it turned out I was able to call and get some help but it makes me nervous. I am taking care of an invalid parent and this just adds to the anxiety and stress I feel. I may soon have to take the taxes somewhere because it is stressful and my taxes aren't even that complicated.

I love the ease of using TurboTax and the way it takes you through every step. However, some states do not have a personal income tax, and my home state of Tennessee is one of them. Can't you write that into the program so it doesn't keep bugging me to file an unnecessary return?

TurboTax was my dad's go-to and it's been my go-to for decades. Although I didn't need it for this 2024 Tax Year, I have used their support in the past when I had complicated overseas income from a U.S. Company as an expatriate employee abroad and living separately from my spouse, and rental property income, and sale of primary residence, with prior year's state taxes to deduct, and so on. So, whether a given year was complicated or not, I have been able to easily navigate the filing process with no anxiety at all.
