Problem entering foreign pension income.into TTAX

TTAX appears not to support reporting foreign pension income correctly.in my tax return
My foreign pension does not come with a 1099-R but must be reported as "income" on my tax return.
If you try to create a substitute 1099-R it requires a USA tax payer ID number that the foreign pension payer does not have. If you try to override the 1040 line item to add the income as a pension in the correct place on the 1040 form TTAX refuses to e-file the return. Adding the pension income as misc income then treats it as w2 income and cannot handle any foreign tax paid on that income. Also the misc income does not flow correctly into the state return as pension income.

Frustrating

Until I retired, I used the professional version of Turbo Tax in my office. I have used the personal version for about 15 years. This year I found navigating through the process of preparing my return very difficult and time consuming. It was very frustrating. However, I did purchase a download program for about $40.00 less than the Intuit price which was gratifying. At least I have finished and e-filed, and I didn't have to pay $400.00 for someone else to do what I knew how to do.

Good but not great

Live support was excellent. Very patient and easy to follow instructions. I was very disappointed to get to the end of the process only to find out that I was not able to e-file as Turbo Tax does not support the form needed to file for 1099 OID. That means that I needed to print out 52 pages to mail in and wait for a $1000+ refund.

Seemed less straightforward this time

I've used Turbo Tax several times and generally pleased. This year, I had trouble with importing last year's return and also felt it easier to overlook important areas. I had to file an amended return because it seemed to guide me past some important education related expenses unexpectedly. Usually find it a lot closer to foolproof. It was helpful in completing the amended return.
