TurboTax could be better.

TurboTax is good. It could be better by comparing details between your current filing versus previous year filing. Sure the headline number comparison is fine, but I am talking Roth conversions or 529 contributions or some line zero on current but non zero on previous, etc. I have to bring up both returns and scan each line right now. Use AI! TurboTax fails to get my Roth Conversions correct. I answer questions after "Roth Conversion?" but it is still shows no increase Roth IRA basis line 35 on IRA Info Worksheet. I have to go into 1099-R and check a box "B5". Cmon!

The program is fairly easy to use. If you are unsure about a topic, click on it and it will walk you through.

Great...But

Easy entry, especially since it pre-entered dat from last year's tax forms... but, I really don't like that you don't allow e-filing state forms without an added $$ charge... a 75c stamp vs a $25 fee... From the state's point-of-view I would think they prefer the forms are submitted electronically (less processing req'd)... I just don't understand it...I just don't like it

Taxes were much easier to prepare this year with the import function. Also, the state form took just minutes.

Problem between MyTax Illinois and Turbo Tax
on March 16, 2025

Your product continues to work for me. However, I do not use it for state filing because it cost $20 to electronically file with state using your software and I can file electronically on the MyTax Illinois for free. It takes a little extra effort, but not much. In addition, your State Tax calculations and the MyTax Illinois calculations, do not seem to be synced correctly as it relates to how previous years state tax refunds are translated from the Federal 1040 to the State 1040IL it only amounted to a $9 difference for me (I got $9 more of a refund from MyTax Illinois than I did from Turbo Tax Illinois State software, but it could be more significant to someone with a larger 2023 return It is very likely an issue with could be the MyTax Illinois software, but you should check it out because it is your problem you are shorting people on their State refunds. The MyTax Illinois instructs you to input your State Tax overpayment as shown on Schedule 1 line 1 of your Federal 1040 (which I did on Turbo Tax - $245). I followed this instruction and MyTax Illinois state taxable income was reduced by the $245 overpayment. However; the TurboTax IL1040 did not have this deduction from my state taxable income and my taxable income was $245 more on Turbo Tax IL 1040 . Also, I could not download my 1099 info from e*Trade this year. Not sure if was your fault or Morgan Stanley, but that was a bit of a pain.

The UI for stocks has gotten so much worse compared to other years. Plus I feel like I am getting pop up adds around every corner for stuff. This maybe my last year.
