Frustrating

I had to import from another computer for my information from the last several years. Your directions were not helpful. This was the most frustrating experience. I ended up having to input all information again by hand. The new format on this year's turbo tax was also a challenge - so many times I had to go back and figure out what to input. I don't understand how it does not import all information from by brokerage statements - I had to correct 33 mistakes on this alone and had difficulty understanding and finding what was needed. Of all the years I have used turbo tax, this was the most frustrating and anxiety provoking year yet.

Software Problem with non-qualified 1099-R

I encountered a software glitch in the Step-by-Step final check of the Federal forms. Because a 1099-R was non-qualified, "Other" was marked instead of the IRA or 403(b) options, which is as it should be. This was in the section dealing with RMDs. TurboTax, however, didn't like this. TurboTax personnel reached out to others who reached out to others and all they could find was a totally different situation that involved the "Other" checkbox. What allowed me to proceed was to uncheck the "Other" checkbox, which one would think wouldn't be allowed, but it was.

Printing oversight

Product worked well with the exception of printing payment forms even though I was getting a refund. Seems like an easy fix.

MAJOR NY State return issues with W2 Box 14

This year TurboTax was frustrating for me. There are problems with NY Return regarding W2 Box 14.
1) I imported using W2 digital PDF photo. My Teachers pension 414 H plan for $2,300 transferred in as description "H" for "$414" and dropped the $2,300 entirely. I almost missed it and would have messed up both Fed & State.
2) There is a glitch where my 414H (once above was corrected) auto filled twice on the NY return as both 414H NY State Addition AND as Taxable IRC from form 225 so I was being double taxed. I had to delete form 225 to correct so it was reported once as 414H contribution
These are MAJOR issues that as of March 16th were not addressed by updates even though there is much online discussions on it. Very disappointed with this product 2024

Still the best tax preparation software!!

For over 30 years, my go-to tax prep software. Handles many situations and forms effectively for personal and business returns. Customer support is excellent. Each release has numerous changes to the data entry functions, most are great, some are cumbersome. For example, Release for 2024 taxes includes a new step-thru selection process for 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, K-1's, even in "I'll select what to work on" mode. For example, it does NOT display a list of K1's from last year's return to select from - and you often get K1's at different times. Also, not all relevant fields are show in the summary list of 1099-DIV and 1099-INT that have been entered, so you have to go into each one separately to see them (e.g., US Govt interest on 1099-INT and US savings bonds 1099 from the Treasury).
Pros: I bought or sold investments
