I like the old version of Turbo Tax. For example, when I type 1099-INT, I just enter all the INT in one place. It also applies to 1099-DIV and 1099-B. This is because I have many different account. If I go to different account, it is not that straight forward. I also confusing it asked me how many money in my IRA account. That is confusing and not tax related.

Good in keep track year over year information. But bad in helping solve e-filing failure problem. If TT can't succeed in e-filing. It defeats big part of purpose of using TT.

1099 Entry on this version of TurboTax was Clunky

I have used TurboTax for years, but the method of inputting all the 1099INTs, 1099DIVs, and 1099B at one time was confusing and made me be concerned that I had included everything. This is making me rethink changing to another software next year.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo tax is very user friendly. Walks you through all categories. User friendly and I have confidence in the integrity of the product.

Some quirks

Turbo Tax is great but sometimes requires minute research since hyperlinked numbers pertaining to a displayed number are not broken down. Also when errors are detected the instructions to resolve are not sufficient or clear to easily resolve.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Third year in a row that multiple areas in income and deductions gave blank pages requiring the information to be entered directly into the 1040 form. No reason to use Turbo Tax if I am entering directly into the 1040.

Awsome but....

I've been a Turbo Tax user for decades. I've always appreciated the mostly easy way I can file out and file both federal and state tax returns. My only complaint is that I wish TurboTax was able to carry over more financial data from the previous year returns on state returns. I have 6 529 accounts for my grandchildren and our state tax returns require I annually update the total principal that I have deposited and account for the deposits of others. All this information was documented on my 2023 state return and Turbo Tax should be able to access and transfer those amounts from last year's filed return. I had to dig through my copy of my 2023 return and log into my 529 online accounts for each of 6 accounts to confirm the correct numbers that Turbo Tax required for the 2024 return.
To sum up, I really like the way Turbo Tax does my federal returns but I'm hoping Intuit will fix the annoying flaw that Turbo Tax is unable to transfer year-to-year needed data from state tax return files.

Software Bugs in Turbotax
on March 16, 2025

Product this year 2024 Premier has bugs. Did not transfer investment interest immediately after downloading from my broker. The 1099 was received but not until the software was closed and saved 2x and reopened did the information get reflected on schedule B. In addition I am not a fan of the new view of dividends and interest income. I am able to reproduce the above software glitch by deleting the information from my broker and downloading and transferring again. If I was not meticulous about double checking numbers I would have submitted a return that was incorrect.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
