Turbo Tax is a good product

It was fairly easy, but should have a way of just going to the standard deduction. The investment portion was a bit confusing this year.

In general, TurboTax works well. I buy the desktop version to provide more flexibility in assisting family members with their taxes, and in controlling my files. The online version is inferior in both cases. TurboTax does a poor job of preparing amended returns. It is difficult to locate the starting point for an amended return, and the filing instructions the program provided were contradictory -- telling me I had to mail one form, and then permitting me to file it electronically.

The 2024 Intuit TurboTax Premier product does not properly address the SECURE 2.0 Act, which was signed into law on Dec. 29, 2022, as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, P.L. 117-328. Starting in 2024, unutilized 529 educational savings plan funds can be rolled over to a beneficiary’s Roth IRA without tax or penalty, subject to certain restrictions. The present TurboTax program treats all rolled over assets as an UNQUALIFIED distribution, both taxed and penalized. Please correct this issue in the TurboTax Premier product.
