Turbo Tax is the way to go.

Not all changes were improvements

I did not like the new way of entering 1099 information for the federal return. It was not always a smooth transition to go from EasyStep to Forms. You sometimes had to restart the section interview.

Unable to print tax returns

I used the Turbotax desktop account , the interface does not look good but the instructions are east to understand , The major problem i encountered was with printing the tax returns . I am unable to do so

Cannot save PDF

Cannot compile PDF?! The "print returns" button used to create a PDF now it just prompt a progress bar and close the progress bar and display nothing else. Garbage engineers.

too expensive

software is too expensive. some sections are misleading, for example, the software advised to buy and update in order to get more refund. I followed the instructions and paid extra for the upgrade but got a message that I was not qualified for the refund/deduction

Buggy this year

TurboTax Premium was buggy this year. When it failed to import a tax form from a financial institution, rather than allowing me to use the institution name, address, and tax ID from last year, it wanted me to enter it myself. And I had other not-so-seamless experiences similar to this. I ended up starting all over again four (4) times due to things like this.

Adequate

Adequate, and accomplishes my purpose in filing both Federal and State tax returns. Some of the instructions are not as obvious, or user intuitive. For example, it would have been helpful to explain up front and more obviously that entering each 1099-B sales individually would alleviate the need to manually print and send those items via snail mail after a return has been filed electronically.

the 2024 TurboTax Premier not as user friendly

I like the CD version, so that users have a choice of downloading the program from CD player or from the internet (very slow).
In the wages & income section, the 1099R and SSA-1099 are grayed out. These 2 items would not open when I clicked the icons. The problem was not solved on updates up to 3/11/25.
