Same old gripe

Every year I complain about the same thing. When I complete filling in another section of income, it doesn't always show on the summary. For example, 1099NEC. I answer the questions, fill in the amounts, complete that section, click "done", get to the summary page afterwards, and it shows 0 for 2024. If I click "update" it shows the entries i just completed. Click "done" and it goes back to zero on the summary. What is the point of a summary page if it doesn't show all the work as it is completed? I end up keeping a paper checklist to make sure I don't leave a tax statement out.

Initially I found dealing with Turbo Tax this year was more complicated than previous years. I made a call for help and one of the agents, Kimberly was awesome and answered my questions and allayed my fears.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax - Solid Tax Platform @ a Reasonable Price

I have been using TurboTax for the past 15 years; like my past experiences I found the software to be easy to use and quite helpful with more complicated sections of our joint return. I did have an issue with the software locking up after I initially loaded and started using it. I called into tech support; a VERY nice lady help me remove the prior version and reload a current copy. Other than that, it was flawless.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Love-Hate TurboTax

I've been using TurboTax for years even thought I often find it not a friendly app to use. Example: All I want to do is print a copy of this year's return before I print it, but the program runs me around in circles (e.g., makes me open up an Intuit account, etc.) and, ultimately, doesn't print the review copy for me anyway. Also, there's no way to add documents to a return to be filed online, so I have to mail it by mail.
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Crash downloading state return; othewise very good

I used the downloaded app on my Mac, with the step-by-step guide to go through the federal tax sections and got to the State Taxes, When I clicked Download for the state tax form, the app crashed. I knew that Washington State doesn't have state income tax, but I was just following the guide and figured the app would know that. When I restarted TurboTax, there was a big discrepancy in the AGI and tax due from just before the crash.
I had paid for and called for advice, and the person was very helpful. She went through everything with me by viewing my screen, and did not find why there was a difference from before the crash. I then sent her the data, which she analyzed for several minutes, and showed me that the correct AGE and tax due was correct; the values from before the crash must have been incorrect. Since I felt that something hidden might be wrong due to the crash, I decided to restart a new return from scratch. The tax advisor agreed.
After I started the new return with a new saved file, I slaw that the tax advice that I had paid for was no longer available. However, I was almost done and did not trust the first file enough to go back to it. I no longer needed to call for advice, however, and completed the return successfully. In the first return, I had also called early in the process about carryover of my wife's business inventory, after she retired from her business. I also asked about multiple foreign tax credit dates. Those questions were answered well.
I had used TurboTax many times up until 2003, and we used a CPA after that due to my wife's business. Since the CPA and my wife both retired last year, I went back to TurboTax this year. I first started the online app, then decided it would be best to use the app download. One problem is there is no way to delete the online app -- when I log on to TurboTax online, it still thinks I'm working there.
There are many things I like about TurboTax; the import of financial statements from major intuitions is generally excellent. There are a few where I had to input 1099-R and 1099-INT forms manually, and also do a build edit on some stock sales to show the correct cost basis on multiple stock batched in one sale.
The biggest thing to fix in the TurboTax download app, is the fact that it doesn't know Washington has no state income tax, and the app crashes when you try to download the WA state tax.,
Pros: I bought or sold investments
