So-so in User Friendliness

Overly difficult to navigate. Just to enter a 1099-R, for example, you have to wade through around 10 screens in case some one-in-a-million legislative carve-out applies. If this absolutely has to be done, t would be much better to ask once at the beginning if any of those situations is going to apply to anything on the return. It would be better still to have the option to carry this over from the previous year without any screens at all. What is even worse is that every time you want to enter a new 1099-R (not from an issuer on previous year's return), you have to first review every single 1099-R you've already entered. All 40 screens (your mileage may vary). No help from the TurboTax help center. I finally asked Perplexity, which told me how to get around the 40 screens problem by using the Form view. At least the file imports from my financial institution went well, but I wish I had noticed at the beginning that I could do that from the File menu. It's tougher to get where you want in the Step-by-Step process.

I was doing my grandson taxes and federal should be free with the Turbo Tax I purchased. It wants $40 to file his federal?

Helpful but Extremely Flawed

Appreciate being able to get my taxes done by myself for cheaper. However putting in same year Roth conversion was not intuitive and had to look up multiple sources to get it right. Pricing is ridiculous that going through a retailer is cheaper then they charge you a 2nd time to actually file for state filing even after I purchased Premier + State.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

Turbo tax used for the first time

constant upgrades was annoying but not a real issue. The biggest pain I had was finding the "in process" file to work on, since I was doing three returns.
