Good, could be better

I use TT every year because I need to itemize. This year I was finally able to add loss from my wife's parent's estate sale. We had 2 years of carryover losses, however, since we maxed out the loss, these didn't matter. To complicate things, we have to split the loss with my SIL, she has her taxes done by a H+R Block pro. My 3-star review is due to how difficult entering this data was. Please improve this area where multiple forms (worksheets) for Schedule D are needed.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

Download page was confusing. Also, had to hunt for guidance in capital gains and OIDs.

I have used TurboTax Premier-Desktop for years. I find it easy to use and provides easy access to research any topic. I plan to continue using this product every year.

Significant programming error in Colorado version
on March 7, 2025
Posted by: Garbage Czar
from Colorado
TurboTax has a significant error in how it handles data in Colorado's Child Care Contribution Credit, which is documented on form DR 1317, which is prepared by the non-profit receiving the donation. This credit gives the taxpayer back 50% of the amount of a specific charitable donation. However, the software is showing the credit based on the number on line 3 (100% of the donation) instead of line 4 (50% of the donation). Taxpayers who use TurboTax will be receiving twice the credit they should be getting, thus underpaying their tax liability and are exposed to audit, penalties, etc. from the Colorado Department of Revenue. This needs to be corrected.
