Turbotax not what it used to be

As a long time user of turbotax I felt the changes made in 2024 were difficult to navigate and the software was just not as user friendly. I also had difficulty e-filing due to updates being needed. I used to be asked at startup if I wanted to update but this version did not. I had to look for how to initiate the upgrades...the whole process was much more painful to me as a long time user. For the first time ever I will look into other software options or other means of filing my taxes next year.

Turbo tax is a great product

I've used Turbo Tax for many years. I think it is a great product. I will continue relying on Turbo Tax in the future.

TurboTax 2024 Wasn’t up to Snuff.

I was frustrated by two issues. My financial Services information wouldn’t download, so I had to enter it myself. I could not get anything to print from within Turbotax. I had to save it as a pdf and select pages from the pdf to print.

This should be a clean product, but it has multiple problems. For example, when entering investment income, the program repeatedly asks for whether I want to download information directly from brokerages. The previous version would stop asking for this after about 3 repetitions. This version persisted. Moreover, the new format of investment income page is glitchy. If you want edit one of the entries, the display jumps to the top, so you can't see the item you just clicked on to edit. You have to scroll down to see it. The program should offer an opportunity to review returns before you e-file. Instead, it provides a link that goes out to an instruction page about how to do it. Why not just have a direct link to the print mechanism right there? You should want your customers to review their returns well before they get into all the steps associated with e-filing. I had to fake out the program, saying I was filing by mail, to get a print out before proceeding into the e-filing steps. That's absurd.

overall easy to use.Turbo Tax does not automatically transfer section 1256 contracts from your brokerage statements. This creates extra work and should be addressed.
