Turbotax install was a nightmare!

2024 installation was a nightmare. Program installed then would not start. Called the tech support and they could not figure it out. I pointed out to the tech that this seems to be a common complain since January 2025 and why she didn't have a fix. She forced me to stay on the phone with her for over 1 hour install--> uninstall--> run as admin, etc etc. All simple things I've already tried, never addressing the issue. I finally found the answer on an Turbotax user comment with Visual C++

Turbo tax harder to use this year

I have used TT for many years. This year's version seemed harder to understand. The wording of the questions was sometimes confusing, and should have been more clearly worded. I lived part of the year in each of two states, and the wording of the state returns asking for information allocation to each state was not well handled. Other than living a partial year in each of two states, the return was simple compared to many in the past, and I was quite disappointed.
We will not be moving again, so I expect next year's return to be easier, but if it is not, I will stop using Turbo Tax.

Turbo Tax is always good to use. They are very interactive and you just have to answer each question and your return is filled out for you.

Hawaii state still needs work

Federal taxes smoother this year. However when moving to Hawaii state flow was choppy. GE tax IDs are not carried over year to year in the program so need to fill them in again.

Trouble downloading and installing updates

I had a lot of trouble down loading updates for turbo tax this year. It kept freezing up on me. I spent hours jumping through hoops to try to get some updates to download and install. My computer is one year old and is specifically used for taxes. I've used turbo tax for over 20 years and will try again next year. If I have the same problems, I will be looking elsewhere for my tax software.
