Cheryl helped us and was thorough and extremely patient. The software is another matter. It seems less intuitive than last year and often left us in a loop. It is unnecessarily difficult to navigate and due to some software issue with the program, we had to have a check mailed to us from NYS.

Turbo Tax don't do your taxes without it.

I've been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years and it has gotten better every year EXCEPT this year and last. I'm not sure if it is the result of changes in the tax laws or programmers thinking they are helping people by adding confusing language in the various steps.

State Return AL filled with error

There is a massive error in how Roth Conversion is handled for Alabama Schedule RS form which was introduced in 2023. It doesn't subtract the non-deductible portion of the conversion. Taxes the entire amount. Its even worse this year and it doubles the taxable amount after doing some magical math. I overpaid last year due to this error. Fortunately caught it this time, due to massive tax difference.

Keep it simple

the forms and questions this year are less transparent and harder to make sure you are entering the correct information. Please revisit the prior years and make the process easier. Also please just include the state e-file option in the base price, it is very annoying to have this fee only at the end. Be a responsible corporation and be upfront with the complete price.
