Bad experience

Worst experience in 12 years of using TurboTax. Didn't carry over most data from 2023 return. Paid extra to upgrade and wasted my money. Wouldn't allow me to file because of update I couldn't download.

A Good Program with One Glaring Fault

Turbotax Premier worked fine with one exception. I had completed all my income entries that included two 1099R RMDs for IRAs that contained QCDs with the exception of interest, dividends and capital gains from my brokerage firm account. At that point I was due for a federal refund od approximately $333. When I opened Turbotax on 2/24/2025 the program automitically updated and when it opened to finish the return the Federal Refund cchanged to an amount owed in excess of $1,750. Upon examination of the two 1099Rs with the QCDs it showed that something was corrupt in the update and the program incorrectly added the amount of the two QCDs to the AGI. All of the information that had been saved after I originally entered the QCDs was correctly there but I had to go through the individual pages of the program at which time the end result changed to a correct tentative Federal Refund of $14.

I have always had good experiences with Turbo Tax

I have been using Turbo Tax for almost 30 years and have been very satisfied with the product. I have used the deluxe version and the premier version over the years. I find the software reliable and relatively easy to use. I have never had to file an amended return or have had an audit. Using the e-file has gotten my tax filing done quickly and any refunds returned in a few days to a couple of weeks.
