Not as good as before

I've used this tool for well over a decade and have never had the problems I experienced this year (first year using download only as opposed to DVD). From the initial screens there were problems: when I entered the wrong password, I wasn't allowed to reset it; I was told I had to contact customer relations but there was no contact information on the screen (I went through a list of old passwords until I found the right one). I downloaded my investment information from the investment company; somehow, TurboTax ended up with three different copies of the same information but never prompted me to question the duplications. I tried to use It's Deductible but it couldn't find my current account so I had to start over--and then TurboTax had trouble linking to the new account. I tried to get digital help, whatever that is, and all I got was a box with a spinning wheel as it tried to connect--thirty minutes later I gave up. I finally managed to finish with everything and submit but my relatively simply taxes took two days to complete (and I had all the paperwork at my fingertips) and a whole lot of frustration as I had to do things over several times. I have advocated for TurboTax to friends and family over the years. Not this time. I am going to have to think long and hard about using the product again next year.....

Keep It Simple As Possible

I've used TurboTax for years now without failure
However, it just keeps getting more "sophisticated" every year probably due to our "friends" in DC.
Perhaps make a version that's tailored to Seniors that keeps it "keeps it simple" as possible?

Good But Can Be Better

This year's version didn't seem as easy to use as previous versions. It is still a good program, but it didn't seem answer as many questions as you went through and required manual intervention on one issue. This was especially true of how it dealt with estimated taxes paid in 2024. It also never asked what I wanted to do with the 2024 refund, assuming it would be paid out rather than applied to 2025 taxes.

TurboTax a disappointment in 2024

The good news was that I was able to complete and submit my taxes to the Feds and State. The bad news was that (1) I was not able to print via the PRINT ACTIVE FORM option. I was not able to print ANYTHING within TURBOTAX. This worked in previous version of TURBOTAX. Fortunately I was able to save my entire file to a PDF under FILE/SAVE TO PDF. Then search for the specific page and print it. (2) The way TurboTax collects and display interest income, dividends, and capital gains distributions is a mess in 2024. In previous years one got a simple table of dividends/capital gains as one added data from different sources that one could select and then review/edit. Now the table is gone and the "big boxes" replaced the tabular form. The big boxes are useless. (3) Other confusing instructions related to form 8606 distributions could be improved.
