Premium Price, Hidden Limits

The software is already expensive, yet almost every additional step costs more money. First, you pay for the software itself. Then each additional state return costs extra. On top of that, TurboTax charges separately just to e-file each state return. It feels like constant nickel-and-diming.
What’s even more frustrating is the 3 state e-file limit in the desktop version. If you have income in more than three states (which is increasingly common), you’re forced to either mail returns or find another workaround. This limitation is not clearly emphasized upfront when purchasing the software.
To make matters worse, the software provides very little guidance for paper filing when you exceed the e-file limit. There are no clear instructions, checklists, or mailing guidance integrated into the process. For a premium-priced product, that’s unacceptable.
Will not use for next year.

I like preparing my taxes with Turbo Tax, but I thought it was a little more difficult this year. I also completely missed the section asking for my IP Pin number.

The lack of It’s Deductible sucks, the lack of It’s Deductible sucks—repeated because for some absurd reason being direct is insufficient

Too difficult to use

Terribly difficult to use. Impossible to use charitable donations (non-money) this year. Last year it was so easy to have non-cash items cost estimated and entered. Impossible to save. I continually lost my saved forms and had to start from beginning. So frustrating.

Disappointed this year

I have used Turbo Tax for probably 25 years or so .,..however long they have been around. I had more issues this year with things than in any previous year. Trying to get my EV credit into the return unsuccessfully and then having to back it out and file without it. Then I had to do an amended return and for some reason it remembered that I tried to put it in earlier and made it an nonrefundable tax credit. In short I had to do my entire return and mail in a hard copy of the amended return. Needless to say I may look elsewhere for tax software next year.

What would be a nice addition is a feature for importing things like a .csv file or an Excel file for areas where were may be a lot of entries like donated items, etc. Also there were several imports from institutions that it then still asked me all kinds of questions on. That's why buy the product and do the import, so IT can handle that from. Not so I can spend hours searching through PDF files of the data it supposedly already imported.

TTP is a Premier Product!!

In years past, I have consistently rated TTP with a 5 Star rating, but I'm only giving it 4 Stars because I had several problems with entering data. The section dealing with my 1099R had to be revisited several times in order to update the 2025 figures. And during one of the attempts, I completely killed my entire return and sent me back to "start a new return", a most distressing occurrence!!! I am not happy with all the revised format changes because I have been using TTP for many years now and I found the new formatting to be cumbersome to use. Otherwise, I am pleased with the product overall, as I have been in the past. I would have given 3 Stars because of my level of frustration, but felt that would have been too harsh on ths excellent product.
