Turbotax is disappointing

Very little on-screen help is provided to understand the questions being asked. Especially true if you have multiple sources of income from one fiduciary, or if you have more than one fiduciary reporting the same type of income. We were just baffled by some screens. While Turbotax may be the best product out there for an individual user, it certainly does not inspire confidence in the output.

It works!

It worked really well. It was very helpful on my mother-in-law's return which involved installment income from the sale of a farm.

TurboTax is more expensive but well worth it

TurboTax just walks through common tax situations. Less common items can usually be found. This year I had a one time need to file a trust return. It was not available in my TurboTax version. I wound up doing it on paper. This year I thought I would try the online version. I found it difficult to navigate and wound up going back to the downloaded version. I did not see a way to go to forms online, for example.

Software includes state tax forms, but the fee to file is Ridiculous.

TurboTax Works Well

I have used for years. It is simple, straight forward, and complete. Once you have backup data, all you do is answer questions. It is especially wonderful when importing investment data.

This version has lots of bugs. After filling out the section for social security it asked if I lived abroad. I said no. Then it wanted me to tell Turbo Tax about my living in Canada! Then, I was able to import one financial brokerage account into Turbo Tax, but not another! I had to enter I manually.
