Worked good for us

We have a simple return. We used the import feature for all the companies that have it. One form was missed even though we clicked the box to import it, not sure why. We entered the form manually.

Capital Gain Identification

Have used Turbo Tax for many years. This software update was more complicated with online information to be received and did not have capital gains identified separately on the wages and income summary. You had to dig down to determine if the capital gains entered were accurate. Previous versions had a separate line item specifically identified for capital gains.

Turbo Tax still has Problems

The program tries to make my AT&T pension (handled by Fidelity) into a personal saved retirement like Roth. It was VERY hard to find ways to prevent this. Last year (2024 Taxes) I gave up and Turbo Tax put my income on lines in an unfamilliar way.

Too many steps to enter data in recent years

There's too much garbage windows that take too much time. For example, when you want to enter information from a 1099-INT you get a window with 5 or 6 choice to pick from. It's a waste of time. If I say I want to enter a 1099-INT, just bring up the entry window, not another window with 5 or 6 choices to choose from. In addition, some forms are not rolling forward from year to year, specifically Forms 8606. Why? Because if you take distributions from the Federal Thrift Savings Program (TSP), which does not allow you to calculate taxable income which included non-deductible contributions in previous years, Turbo Tax throws out the form. That needs to be corrected.
