Turbotax is usually AWESOME. 1031 work was bad.

I have used TurboxTax for 2 decades. Usually AWESOME. This year I had a 1031 like kind exchange. The software did not have a "wizard" for this and the path to get all the forms correct was convoluted. I had to file an extension this year. I went through half a dozen "Tax Experts" (advice) before the last one finally was able to help. She was wonderful. Took us 3 hours of on-line work to finally get a return correct that deferred my gains to the new property.

I Will Be A Repeat TurboTax Customer!

This was my first time to use TurboTax. In the past I've used CPA's to prepare my taxes. I especially liked the feature that enabled me to import my 1099's. Since I wasn't that confident, especially for the foreign tax credit portion, it was extremely helpful to be able to pay a nominal fee to access a tax expert. Tax Expert Johan was very helpful. He patiently walked me through my forms and answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Cumbersome Input

interface for inputting investment income(interest, dividend, sales etc) were cumbersome and hard to follow in Premier this year, taking much longer than necessary. 2023 and prior were much easier. "Help" staff offered suggestions which were outdated and not in synch with the 2024 screens. Please make the interface better next year.

Turbo Tax could be better

1. Turbo Tax Brokerage Account import does not work with Chrome. This should be explicilty called out in the instructions. When chaning default browser to Edge, the import worked 2. Turbox Tax missed a $14.93 tax credit. I overpaid on NJ UI WF/SWF - 195.93, when the limit was set to 181 (line 14 on W2 form). Turbo Tax did not allow my to submit my tax form with the $195.93 value. I had change the value to $181, so I lost the credit for $14.93
