TurboTax Has Gone Down The Drain!

This was WORST experience I've ever had doing my taxes!
I've been using Turbo-tax for more than 25 years, and this will be the last year.
I'd rather do it on paper then use this horrible program.

Good, would be great if FTC was improved

I prefer Desktop since and have been on it since 2023 when I had some foreign tax and was advised by the helpdesk to switch form Online to Desktop to better address all situations. One thing that is frustrating (even still in 2024 version) are investments that have some foreign tax but from multiple countries. TurboTax does not have a good way to input the data since it only allows 1 country to be entered. It appears this is a common frustration in the community and I would rate it higher if they fixed this feature.

TurboTax is just ok

A couple of issues are really buggy. The insistent updates to the software often fail and lead to a bunch of troubleshooting. I had a failure with the print the essential remaining tasks once the e-file had been completed and I couldn't get back to the same point. K-1 support in the tool is just so so. There is a lot of room for improvement with K-1s.

have used TT for almost 30 straight years

Love TT but only ask that the K1 overview page shows somthing like line 1 or 2 from last year and this year to help keep track of what has benn and what needs to be entered. Like you do with 1099 and W2s.

Frustrating year filing

This years filing was incredibly frustrating. When entering my K-1 forms, it did not ask the normal questions for Line 13 information. I had to enter it during the review. It also did not carry over the information related to the Passive Activity losses from previous years, and then asks for me to enter that information when going through the final review. Of course, I have no idea what year the numbers applied to nor why they were in there. And it would not let me skip and look for the information. I had to enter random information to get out of the loop. Then I could not edit the information at a later date. Sooooo frustrating. I basically had to redo the taxes to get them done. Then, when filing state taxes and trying to enter credit card information, it would don't let me select any expiration month beyond the 7th month. As my card expires the 11th month it would not take the information. I finally ended up choosing another card to use just to get it done, but these things should not happen. Filing taxes is hard enough without having to deal with these glitches. K-1s very much complicate filing and Turbo Tax should not make this harder for us.

Good but if you have K-1's go elsewhere

The basic part of TurboTax is very helpful, the K-1 area needs a lot of work. It is very difficult to enter a complex K-1.
