This is the first year Turbo Tax has failed me

I am so upset. My taxes weren't filed. It is 2 days late now. I keep having trouble with the 1099 NEC. It doesn't make any sense.

2025 Turbotax is a disaster

We have used Turbotax for years, the 2024 version is a disaster. The input is clunky. I was unable to download Vanguard data, The Fidelity data downloaded but did not identify both our accounts by name. So the first one I selected went to my name but after selecting edit it was my wife's account. We will be looking for alternative for next year. I spent several extra days trying to prepare my taxes and finally gave up and filed for an extension.

Finished taxes on the 13th of April. Went on a short trip. Came back home to check efile status an it had not efiled. Had to efile on the 17th.
Pros: My employment status changed this year

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and continue to find that it is the best tax assistant for me. It covers everything and is well designed that, I as a senior who is not as deft with a computer, am able to navigate the program very easily to get my taxes done.

Long Time TurboTax user - very satisfied customer!

I have been using TurboTax Deluxe or Premier for Windows or Mac desktop for at least 32 years or more to prepare my Federal and State Tax Returns and have great confidence in it! I especially appreciate the ease of EasyStep and its thoroughness of guiding me through the Federal Tax Return preparation process. (EasyStep for my Virginia State Taxes is very good; however, it is not quite as thorough and doesn't provide as complete answers built into its Help features or online support for state tax questions.) I also find that TurboTax's on-line support for customer's Federal Tax questions to usually be all that I needed to answer my questions.
For 2024 tax year, these are some of the issues I encountered that I hope Intuit, TurboTax might improve upon.
- On first attempt the T-Tax Premier Desktop did not properly install on my Mac. However, I checked TurboTax support web site which recommended that I needed to update my MacOS, shutdown my Mac and try installation again after I restarted the Mac. That did help.
- I really appreciate that I was able to scan in my W-2 and it read and imported the information automatically. On the other hand, I wished that it would offer to do the same thing for my 1099-R and other 1099 forms; however, it does not. I hope that they will add this functionality in the future.
- I wish that it would automatically save my work and input data very frequently. I sometimes looked away to check through documentation or research a topic, then found that it had not saved the last thing I had worked on. It is important to select File Menu/Save yourself in order not to loose your work.
- The first time I tried to eFile both my Federal and State Returns the process failed. It did offer the failure reason to be that there is an update to Turbo Tax Federal forms, and that I needed to install it before trying to eFile again. I did as suggested. That worked, but I needed to go back and run the review again, print the return again (which I did to a PDF file) etc. and then the second time the eFile transmissions worked. (I'm really glad that I had not actually printed it out to paper in the beginning.)
I wish that TurboTax would have automatically popped up with a suggestion to check for updates before I had it analyzed and checked my returns for accuracy the first time.
Overall I am a very satisfied customer and plan to purchase TurboTax 2025 next year!
