Tax Filing Trouble
on April 16, 2025

Complicated and difficult to use. Does not explain each section and tax terms. Locks up and will not let you out. I had to erase figures to escape the Form INT 1099. I don't know why I owe tax this year on this federal tax form. I missed something. Something went wrong.

After 10 years of using TT This was the worst
on April 17, 2025

After 10 years of using TurboTax, this was the worst year yet I had to use two states; the forms were nearly Word for Word of the printed state tax forms; there was very little description or explanation for the state returns, the prices are hidden and obscured that you have to use $25 for online filing on the desktop version, but not the online version. The worst part is the lack of auto fill, asking me questions. Like am I filing a return for another state when I have both states loaded and entered, I have to enter capital gains by hand. I have to categorize when I sold from each state at what time, even though everything was already digitally imported. Over 300 transactions I have to click with the mouse to load and answer two questions for each of those 300, no bulk review. The desktop version is difficult to navigate, slow to respond only oriented for really a vertical screen. they charge so much money get so much money. I cannot believe there is not better descriptions.

I can't figure out how to tell Turbo Tax I'm really done. I filed my taxes online and paid online. The IRS and state notified me that it had received my returns and payments. Why doesn't my TT know that I'm finished.?

State Return By Mail just got more complicated
on April 17, 2025

Still a great way to do your taxes on your own unfortunately the workflow to mail in your state taxes has become convoluted and looks to push people into spending money to file state returns for a fee. Now you have to go back into the program and change a setting from e-file to File by mail for your overall return and then the option to file by mail is shown. If you have e-file set for your federal taxes then the only options given for your state taxes is 'E-file my state return now' or 'Do not e-file my state return now, I'll do it later'. If you print out the returns with it set to e-file then your instructions on the state also change to not show where to send the return and marks on the form that you filed it electronically which is not true. Go back to the old workflow. This is a bad customer experience all because of an attempt to get people to e-file state returns and bring in more revenue for Intuit.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax is fine, but I wish you would stop reminding me to file when I have already filed. Stop with the emails!
