Turbotax download as good as online, in my view
on April 15, 2025
Posted by: westportellen
I had to use the download version of Turbotax to file back taxes, so I just kept it this year instead of trying to figure out how to hook it back to the online version which I'd used before. It really is easy, It covered all my instances except one, which I could have asked the experts about if it wasn't already April 15

INDESPENSEABLE TOOL IN MY ADMINISTRATIVE ARSENAL!!
on April 15, 2025

I have been using Turbo Tax for the past 20+ years as my tax filing tool. In no case has it ever failed me; and, for that matter, I have found its use very user friendly and error free. If I can do this, anyone can. I encourage you to make this your absolute "go to" tax tool!!

Turbo is great- needs tweaks on explanations
on April 15, 2025

overall is a great product. been using Turbo Tax for decades now. just every now and then will prompt for a number into a space without a real explanation. and when you try to review the form it is not easily found. I still haven't found the spot i answered and it is newer to this year for local taxes. (not federal or state but local?).

RMD process
on April 15, 2025
Posted by: tzc687
The new RMD is user hostile. The program now asks for the RMD amount in order to verify that the withdrawn money was enough. However, not all account managers provide this number, which means that it needs to be computed based on previous year end data. First, you all are doing the computing and making me have to get a calculator for this is number leaves a bit to be desired. Suggest that you fix the program to ask for the prior year 12/31 closing account balance, and use it, along with the appropriate factors from IRS, to compute the expected RMD amount that the program is now requesting. Second, the account balance should be saved and imported, along with prior year tax return data, to compute the expected RMD amount for the following year for each retirement account.
Instead of expecting us to keep track of year ending account balances to have to compute the magic RMD number. After all, that's why I purchased the program in the first place.
