I purchased online software and which included state and federal. After completing my return online I was very disappointed to find out the State filing fee was not included and had to pay to file (although the packaging indicated STATE AND FEDERAL).

Turbo Tax Premier programming needs improvement

your program has become very cumbersome to use. It is no longer a user friendly program because you are asking for different information than the original IRS forms required. An example is your 5329 form Premier has lines 52a&b and 53a&b asking for information that the IRS does not require. Also on your filing for FED Taxes there is no explicit instructions on how to change the Estimated PTPIN If you program this as a check point you need to provide specific instructions on how to do it. Seems like Intuit is allowing programming nerds to require inputs with poor instructions on how to execute. Remember you are selling your product to the public not coding experts.

2024 TurboTax Review & Suggestions for Improvment

Overall, I like the TurboTax product. It is a tremendous help to me especially since I have a lot of investment activity I import from various financial institutions.
It would be extremely helpful to include the 2025 1040-ES estimated tax data in the roll-forward of my 2024 tax return. I essentially take my final 2024 tax return files and use the file to help me forecast my 2025 tax estimated tax payments each quarter. So, I am updating my forecast of my 2025 taxes each year using the prior year's software. I would like to roll-forward that data when I start to prepare my 2025 tax return.
I also suggest that the input of data for Charitable Contributions be simplified (mileage, parking, tolls, etc.). There are too many data fields and rows, and it took me a while this year to figure out how to report data correctly.
I also would like a method for data I input supporting worksheets included as "Additional Information" in my filed tax return to be able to multiply and divide data, and not just do "additions." For example, I have multiple ETFs, and I have to create Excel files to calculate the interest on U.S. Govt. securities that are not taxable at the state level. The software already provides a comparable worksheet to allocate tax-exempt income between different states.
For some unknow reason, a Blank Form related to my 2023 income tax return was transferred into my 2024 tax return. I only noticed this form, which has no information related to my 2024 tax return when I was doing my final review of my tax return prior to filing. I deleted this Blank Form.

I use Turbo Tax Premier edition as it is helpful for preparing a return which often includes capital gains/losses. And I'm not just saying that because I used to work at Intuit.

ITS TOO EXPENSIVE, WHENEVER YOU ARE DOING ALL THE WORK. YOU PURCHASE THE SOFTWARE, PAY TO SEND IT AND FEES TO HAVE IT DEPOSITED, i NORMALLY WOULD SEND IT IN THE MAIL. THIS COST ME $125.00 AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HALF THE PRICE TO MAIL IT.
