I liked the disc format much better

I have used Turbotax Home and Business disc version for more than a decade without many problems. It was great for keeping track of business and rental records. Now, I am using the Premier version download, which should be simpler, and I found it to be cumbersome and time consuming. It didn't flow well to the State section, and I got stuck in some endless loops.

Good but some issues

I have the Desktop Turbo Tax Premier Version. I could not find an easy way to go back to a particular page without going through a lot of the return again. Another deficiency is that the desktop version will not let you upload your detailed Form 1099-B if it needs to be submitted with your return. So your return goes electronically but you have to mail the 1099-B to the IRS and to your State separately with another form.

Constant nagging to spend more money
on April 14, 2025

TurboTax has become a joke. They are greedy. For the amount of money I ended up paying to be able to file my taxes I could have just took them somewhere and had someone do it for me. The whole point of a tax software is that it is a cheaper option because you do the leg work and the software just does the calculations. Instead they try to milk you for more at every step. They get you like me by selling the software at a fair price, but then force you to buy add-ons or upgrades and then charge you to file state taxes. I have used TurboTax for the last few years, but plan to explore other options next year.

An additional $40.00 on top of the $25.00 for state returns. Misleading to thing I'll be charged the $25 then there is an additional $40 to efile.
