I love Turbo Tax. I have been using it for several decades. This year, however, the only problem I had was when I tried to pay for Audit Defense, which was free for me as an Advantage user, the program kept locking up.

TurboTax Needs Improvements

In some instances, the amounts to input and the TT sections to use are not intuitive. Also, considerable problems/difficulties were encountered with the entering of Foreign Pension payments - work arounds were required and this needed much research. Also, TT doesn't pick up all foreign income in the calculation for the utilization of Foreign Tax Credits. Specifically, it does not pickup foreign income if that foreign income does not have Non Resident Withholding Tax associated with it. As with foreign pension income, work arounds had to be developed.

TurboTax isn't perfect..... at least not yet.

I have been using the product for over 20 years and in recent years have found some of the automatic steps to be too darn automatic. Please allow users to return to previous work using forms which are editable instead of having to go back to worksheets or even worse question and answers on step by step.
Also, when I started this year's work I said "yes" that I would still have K1's from same providers as previous year. Once I determined this was not the case, I spent hours trying to regenerate the page that asked the question as to whether or not the same ones listed were applicable this year. Although after entering one of the K1s, the program allows you to add additional ones - there is never an opportunity given to delete the previously erroneous answer(s) - even if you go to forms and try to delete one that isn't being used. FRUSTRATING!

One bug

Only problem is that during the checking process near the end it didn't like my routing number that was loaded from my previous return, saying it had too many digits. I retyped it and it still complained. I deleted it and entered it nearer the end to receive my refund and it accepted the same number that it didn't like before.
