Importing Needs Some Work

I was not able to get the import of our investment information from Merrill Lynch to work. I had to enter all that information by hand. It worked for me on last year's return.

Smooth Going This Year

This was a very smooth run with TurboTax this year. I have gotten preparation down so that my own glitches are very few and the software waits patiently when I have to dig for what I forgot. The only thing I hate about it is the total inability to sort the donations list alphabetically, the way I organize my prepared list. It would save me an enormous amount of time.

Good but with some minor annoyances

Product general works well and we have used it for years. Two quibbles: 1) The charitable deductions are listed in the order entered over the years, which makes it less than ideal when adding this year's deduction to a charity from a prior year, or to double check against checkbook entries or credit card reports. How hard could it be to keep them sorted alphabetically? 2) In going through the review, we were offered audit defense for $40 (saving from $45 regularly) with the option to pay from our federal refund. But in the final checkout as we were using our credit card to pay for the state filing again, we were offered audit defense again, only at the full $45 price with no acknowledgement that the previous offer had already been accepted or indication that it had been successfully processed. Since we wanted the defense, we accepted, with no way to check if we had somehow purchased it twice.

Happy TurboTax Customer: since 1993

I'm almost a charter member of the TurboTax fan club. I've been using TurboTax for 32 years ... since 1993 when the software came out on a diskette. It's a fantastic produce and super easy to use. I highly recommend it.

TT can do better

The absense of real phone support, particularly with purchase and set up is disappointing. It's ridiculous to expect a young to middle age middle class working persons to have the time and experience to work through such a complex taxing framework. It is abusive and you should be pushing for greater tax simiplification and even elimination of tax for persons earning less than $75,000 a year. Shame on you.
