Carefully review your return

Turbotax did not recognize my military retirement pay 1099R and automatically add the VA state tax exempted amount or prompt me to review this item. Also, I uploaded my W2 this year rather than enter the info myself, TurboTax incorrectly added some items to the wrong box. And upon completion there's a link on the EFile page that says "Need to print for reveiw" all this link does is take you to another web page that describes filing your return by mail, it does not print you return.

Two possible improvements

1. Import last years and senders is great to compare w/ last years, but while refining data, need to know what is last years, and what has been already mod'd or import this year. 2. And when tool is asking questions, like check 1099-R box #, each screen should ref which sender form is being asked, and what is "are you sure as this looks wrong" vs "needed because info sender does not provide"

2024 Turbotax is not as helpful

I have been using Turbotax for years and never experienced the many issues as there are in the 2024 version. It's simply more complicated and required me to do more reading and searching to find the right directions that have been provided within the turbotax tool in past years. It usually takes me 3 to 4 hours to complete and this year it took 8.5 hours. And eys, all of the information that was required was organized and at my fingertip.

Review Process in Turbo Tax

During the review process, I found the problems not well explained, nor was there a link back to the appropriate place in the guided entry section of Turbo Tax. It would have been helpful. As it was, I clicked on the actual Fed Tax form, and tried to figure it out on my own. In other words, make the review process as simple and straightforward as the Easy Enter.
