Works quite well

TurboTax is quite good and fairly reliable. I did it AGAIN with the stupid PIN number filing... just put my own and I hadn't got my wife's PIN number. But the stupid software allowed me to e-file regardless!!! So it was rejected and I had to go through it all again. I'm a programmer... I KNOW it's a simple requirement to make users enter both PIN numbers (you see this everywhere, like, with an asterisk for "required"... duh!).
My one beef that wasted a lot of time was where for retirees' pensions, it's not at all clear whether you need to choose "3 year rule," "standard rule," or "no rule (none of the above."

TurboTax was better

TurboTax used to be a better product. Looks like Intuit is trying to make it easier to use, but making it harder to follow.
Still requires older versions to be upgraded before you can use to see old returns. I get this makes your job easier, but it is not good for the customer.

Turbo Tax is great for filing your personal income tax returns. Changes I would make - have nontaxable federal income follow to the AL return. Another change - the program is cumbersome to move through - make is easier to move through (or at least the option).

Many areas of this program are frustrating and not user friendly. Especially for people familiar with the tax code.
Too much selling in the program and the tendency to force people to purchase additional services.

TY2024 User interface changes are abysmal!

I have used TurboTax Desktop since the mid-1990s, and this year's user interface changes made it more difficult and frustrating than in the early years when there was minimal help/guidance. It was absolutely abysmal, and I started move to a different service. The level of effort (and frustration) already expended to nearly complete the return, was the only reason I completed the return on TurboTax. Other personal tax preparers made the same comments about their own experience with TY2024 TurboTax. I will preview it next year, before buying.
