Disappointed in some changes
on April 12, 2025

Have used for years but not happy with some of the changes. I liked it when you could go from step-to-step directly to the form you were working on, or from the form to the matching step; that really helped when trying to understand and insure inputting data correctly. Also I liked when you could choose the step you wanted to go directly to as this is helpful in going back to a step that you know you need to change or finish inputting data.

Why your products dont communicate with each other is besides me... And that I can't access the returns I filled from years past is lame (since I switched to the desktop version). Quickbooks doesnt output TXF files? Wow. Let's keep making things difficult and inefficient.

TurboTax is troublesome
on April 12, 2025
Posted by: 1289Steve
Encountered several errors while filling out my tax return in Turbotax. I allowed Turbotax to access my Fidelity account to upload 1099-B entries. Numerous entries were wrong and also hard to correct. I opted to e-file my state return. The page that popped up for payment information exceeded my screen size and could not be shrunk making it impossible to proceed.

Disappointed. Was not able to down load very much info. Life insurance info, Fidelity info, etc. As always when you get to the end TT starts nigling you for $25 here and 25 there. Not much fun

HSA deduction has software bug which says "hsa has excess contribution". To resolve the problem there is no way to get help other than paying for Tax advice.

forms aren't filling out correctly

the interface is clugy. I have been using turbotax since 1992 and it's gotten so bad. the forms fill incorrectly, especially regarding deminimus activity, qualified income, and asset entry with special depreciation. when you delete an entry, it retains the untitled or blank on the actual form so you clearly see gaps in line items (e.g. in asset entry for depreciation)

Keeping us educated.

Turbo tax used to have more advice from various sources. I feel less enlightened regarding rules and alternative methods, but as for as ease of use, Turbo tax is outstanding. I also like the fact that they carry over items that need to be carried over from year to year.
