Intuit lobbies to keep themselves in business

Intuit lobbies the government so that individuals must file their own taxes even thought the IRS has all of your information already and could file your taxes automatically. Intuit is a joke of a company and doesn't need to exist.

I feel turbo tax is worth the cost. Had some tricky crypto transactions and turbotax made it much easier.

Help on Schedule K1

Had an issue with a trust document, 1041 Schedule K1.
Box 14 entry was ZZ and a value. Could not figure out how to transfer values from Schedule K1 note sheet to turbo tax program. Finally left boxes in Turbo Tax Q&A blank and stepped through questions with answering. Not sure if it cost me on the refund, dollar values were less that $200.

Often a data entry tool lacking smarts

Wording is not always explicit and clear creating a great deal of confusion.
Not as smart as I expect it to be. Seems I have to figure out the best strategy - I expect the software to look at my siutation and figure it out. It is often just a data entry interface.
There is often a misalignment between w2 boxes and what the software is asking for.
The interface to download files from partners is very bad - I had to figure out that you have to double click to get it to work. There is a continue button at bottom that makes it very confusing.
Font in pop up explanation boxes is far too small.

Turbo Tax Pemier 2024

Turbo doesn't seem to import all the info. from the previous yea (ex. carryover rental losses). For non resident filer, when there are many items on stock sales wherein we have to identify whether that transaction is for sources in that state, I wish, Turbo takes info. for one item user gives and fills in for others and give the option for the user to edit if any needed.

Comparing married filing separately to jointly should be accomplished with the push of a button since all the information has already been entered.

I used Turbo Tax years ago, but my taxes haven't been that complicated, so I've been doing my own taxes for years. But this year I had a few new items that I wasn't quite sure I had correct. I thought I had it pretty well figured out, but this software gave me the confidence that I had included all the information and forms needed. It was also very easy to use - I will use it again.
