Fallout Truck Stop

I was not aware of the MEGA Fallout universe. I am sure that members of this age group would find it enjoyable.

Enjoyable Challenging Long Lasting Fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found the Red Rocket Truck Stop to be fun, engaging, challenging and a good experience putting it together. I like the retro feel of the box cover art as it led me to start thinking about stories which could be told about this post apocalyptic future with hits of space travel. When I opened the box I found it a little daunting with 15 packets of parts with some containing additional packets of parts within but was also like wow there is a lot to this play set. I was tempted to jump right in putting this together but then thought better with so many pieces to play with so I started looking at the book provided. I found the book itself to be a bit of a journey helping me to understand the directions, steps, flow of how things would go together with a comprehensive list of parts. I did find the small pictures a bit challenging especially with parts that looked very similar or it was the same part with a different color. It also took me a bit to understand some of the pictographic instructions. After I made some mistakes in putting things together I started to understand what I was supposed to do. I appreciate the coloring on the pieces which really gives the set the aged feel like the truck stop had really seen some wear and tear. It was challenging for me sometimes to get the pieces to snap into place but after some play I did get a better handle on it, Especially if a piece was being difficult I would swap with another piece or change the orientation and most often would snap right in. The organization of sets helps a lot. I put a little challenge to myself to complete a set of things in a sitting. I struggled at times when I would check the book and found I still had 13 pages to go through to complete a set of packets. I enjoyed the sense of accomplishment when I did complete a set though and could marvel at how all of those pieces ended up being a cute part of the set that would be built upon with the next set of packets. I did take my time drawing out the challenge and enjoyment by completing it over the course of a couple weeks. I definitely would recommend the Red Rocket Truck Stop especially for those individuals who enjoy challenging play which have an associated story with the play. It also helps one focus and use one skills related to visualization, organization and problem solving. Hope others have as much fun and enjoyment as I did!

War, war never changes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a Christmas gift and am ecstatic with how it turned out and how detailed it is, Mega Bloks has really improved their tolerances and construction quality since I was a kid. 5 stars, if you're a Fallout fan, just get it, it's worth it.

Good potential, but not great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were excited to receive this building set. There are a fair number of pieces and looked promising. However, shortly after starting assembly, we realized this was not going to be an easy build. The pieces were difficult to keep together. Seemed different from other building sets we have done in the past. It is almost as if the brick tabs are not tall enough to produce a tight fit when snapped together. Moving on to the next part of the build, the pieces we had just assembled would continue to fall apart. It was especially frustrating when trying to connect the tri-pod base under the roof of the gas station. The moving ball joints on the tri-pod were very difficult to work with.
The dog figure does not have good articulation. His front leg is attached to his head, so if you want his front leg down to stand up, his head will be looking down. The same with his tail. It would be nice if the head and tail has separate articulation from the legs. Not as pictured on the box or in the instructions. Overall, the set has some nice details and could be a great set if the bricks would stay together better. It made it difficult to play with set without it continuing to fall apart.

Best set from Mega so far

I have always wanted mega to make a fallout themed set, so I was extremely exited for this release. But little did I know, that this set would blow my, already high, expectations out of the water. The power armor looks amazing; the painted detail is clean and the wash adds a level of realism not met by other brick brands. The vault dweller and dog meat are both done beautifully. The Red Rocket was a fun build and looks great on display. But the best part by far, is the detailed print work for the magazines. Mega has always had good prints, but these are literally picture perfect (not to mention that they are textured as well). Furthermore, they have added two variations of all three prints! I hope the this (and the power armor collection) is just the beginning for mega’s fallout line— excellent product.

Red Rocket survives the Fallout!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've enjoyed building blocks since I was a kid and this series tie in set for "Fallout" doesn't disappoint. While challenging, it wasn't so challenging as to take the fun out of the build. Of course some parts were more challenging than others, but there was only one part that I had to fudge, and that was simply because my fingers were to big to get where I needed to go, but I made it work and it's not noticable. I truly appreciate the very helpful step by step instructions, I would have been lost without them. The blocks are well organized into bags, separated by section and numbered. The instructions walk you through bag by bag in numeric order, this also gives you nice stopping points, when you finish a section you can stop until you have time to get back to it and know exactly where you left off. I'm giving it four starts simply because there are a few things that could have been improved. The set consists of three main sections and one of them is only attached to the other section by one brick, making it hard to keep it together at times. Also, the sign was hard to keep together. A simple touch and it can fall apart or off. Overall it was fun, and engaging and it was great for stress and anxiety reduction. This set is well worth the time and effort. Definitely not for younger kids it says 18 and over but I think a highschool age kid could handle it. .

A pretty good set for the most part

This was a fun set for the most part. This is my first time with Mega Bloks. I have done numerous set with Lego and Cobi before. First I will start with the good parts. You get a large and detailed set that you build in three sections. You build the pump station, workshop, and garage. The sets are very detailed and a must for any fallout fan. I also love the orange block separating tool. It was a life saver. Another must have is the extras that the instruction booklet has. it has a nice art style and has great Fallout art pictures. Now for the cons. First the instructions are a little confusing at first. Once I got used to the instructions it was fairly straight forward. My second compliant is the legs for the pump station. They are prone to separating from the base. My last complaint is the Dogmeat figurine. It looks good, but the tail affects the position of hind legs. So having Dogmeat do certain poses will be a challenge. Overall it's a great set. It makes me want to go help another settlement.
