Fun and entertainment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This will be a project!! My daughter who is older is excited to be working on this. It makes you do a lot of planning and thinking. What good entertainment especially when you snowed in. I really recommend this for the older ones and even the adults. Im excited to see the final project.

Excellent bonding time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this toy! It provided an excellent opportunity for my husband and son to bond. Fallout is one of my husband's favorite games. We loved the coloring of the blocks and how it allowed for a more realistic scene to develop. When we opened the box that was another plus. The box it meant to open/close. This design beats out other sets my son has put together. This has allowed us to start/stop as needed. The book at first glance seemed overwhelming, but it was in fact a welcomed presentation of what the steps are. The color coding was super helpful. Overall everyone is loving Fallout. Our son has asked to display the final product in his room!

Incredible Fall Out Collectible... a MUST HAVE!!!

Although not easy to put together; it is a lot of fun to see it built and watch it come alive in a sense. Mega Brand never dissapoints!!! For people who were into the FallOut Franchise, this thing is awesome.

We were very impressed with the included figures. If you're a Fallout fan it's a must have. Definitely hoping for future sets.

Pleasantly Surprised by Mega as a Fallout Fan

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a fan of both the Fallout franchise and construction toys, I was excited to get my hands on this set and experience a Mega set. I haven’t built one since the early days of the Halo licensed collaboration, and this set has drastically improved on how I remember that experience.
Upon opening the package, my first impression was that the set was logically divided into several waves of bags. This provided an easy stopping point which allowed me to break the set up into several building sessions and better fit it into my schedule. I liked that there were some pieces that were made of multiple colors of injected plastic, allowing for a more “natural” look to the pieces, which fit well into the set. However comparing the pieces in the instructions to those in the bag, it was sometimes hard to identify which piece was which due to the lack of the secondary injected color on some pieces. Better controls of the injection molding process could help perfect the aesthetics of each piece.

Continuing with the build I started to encounter some of the unique molded pieces such as the character figures and their accessories. I appreciated the realism and detail on these characters, as well as their possibility. I think it provides an advantage for Mega in their marketplace. However I was disappointed by how the characters fit into the sets. Due to their shape they fit into the set by taking a stance with a “split”, and they didn’t fully seat onto the studs. Additionally the dog character did not fit into the set at all, something I think would have improved the experience. It also was missing the saddle or harness it was supposed to come with.
Regarding the construction of the set, I liked the brick separator included with it. I could tell that it was developed with builders in mind as it included a lot of helpful features for experienced builders such as the bits in the side that help push out thin circular pieces. I also liked the way the instructions differentiated between newly placed pieces with yellow and blue shadows of where they are placed. However at some points during construction I had multiple flat pieces of varied lengths, and there wasn’t any handy reference to tell what length pieces are used. A scale accurate photo of the length to be used in a certain step would save the user from guessing or counting the number of studs manually. It is hard to tell what a number more than 5 is for the average person, so one can’t easily tell the difference between a 1x8 and 1x10 piece at first glance, especially if it is a flat piece with no studs on top. There were a couple instances later in the build that did have length references, leading to more frustration and confusion as to why it wasn’t included consistently when there were long pieces. I also enjoyed the different building techniques employed to construct the set as it made the set look a lot more natural than a completely rectangular brick build. There were some new piece designs that I hadn’t encountered before that I thought were great ideas and enabled more flexibility in the build. However some of the pieces had excess flash from the molding process, which lowered the quality feel of the set
With the set completed, I was pleasantly surprised with the result. Overall I thought the set had excellent detailing throughout. Fallout has an aesthetic that is random, organic, and disheveled, and Mega was able to capture that very well with the overall construction of the set as well as the details included throughout, staying authentic to the licensed IP. The size and level of detail of the set is very fair for the price. The set was clearly designed for not just display, but also play, with a removable roof and several figures and accessories included. Some of the pieces, particularly the flat ones that constituted the walls in some areas, had small gaps between them that were less than ideal. My particular favorite details were the character’s laser gun and attached laser ray, as well as the red rocket sign and the tilted rocket on top of the building. If you’ve played Fallout 4 it is immediately obvious what this set is supposed to be.
Overall I think the set is fairly priced, and look forward to more sets from this IP from Mega Construx
