Sliding Grip

Good thing is the grip is still the well made quality you'd expect from OhSnap. However, seems the magnets aren't as strong as the 4. My phone, a Samsung S25 Ultra with no case, is sliding down when I place it on a metal surface. Not as snappy as the 4 either when you mount it or place it on a Qi2 charger. Maybe a just received a bad one but its more than a little disappointing.

Snap grip 5

Fits snug on the phone and feels good in the hand. Magnet is not strong enough for the snap mount I bought for my original snap grip 4.

The upgrades get better

I started using 2.0 grips and haven't stopped buying the upgrades. They keep getting better and better. I'm just happy they got rid of the adhesive it did great work until extreme heat melted it. Especially l8v8ng in northern California where the summers reach 120 degrees on a special day. Having no sticky mess also keeps my car clean. No more goo gone. Thank you for always improving.

Cool design

Does all of the things it says it does. The single finger grip going through the middle of it is pretty small (I have small hands and can barely get my finger through there. Opening it to use it like a popsocket is not as intuitive and it feels simultaneously chinsy/flimsy and expensive somehow. I recommend reading/watching the how-to videos to get acquainted with it. I’m also able to mount it to the outside of my OEM Apple MagSafe wallet. Hopefully my credit cards still work. 🤷🏼♀️

Great upgrade with some negative changes

Positives:Honestly, this product is great. It’s a great MagSafe attachment that makes holding your phone easy and comfortable. On the Snap Grip 4 I used to take the tape off so I could use the grip more freely depending on the situation. This is that upgrade that I have been wanting of no tape, no mess, and can still remove it when need be. Negatives:It’s thicker. Which at first doesn’t sound bad, since it allows them to put in larger magnets that helps stay to the phone better (why I think they don’t need the tape anymore). The issue arises with the compatibility other products. I have 2 Anker wireless chargers and when the Grip 5 is attached, it struggles to align properly and stay on the chargers magnets. On the Grip 4 I could get my phone near where the magnets are and it will snap to it hard. This I have to align it accurately every time. Also, not sure of this, but I would assume since it’s thicker it would mean more energy loss while on a wireless charger. Not the biggest deal of course, I can always take it off and use my devices MagSafe (iPhone 16 Pro). More issues come up when I try to use their own Snap Car Mount. It does not fit/stay in place. The magnets are super weak, and my phone will just fall off. It worked perfectly fine on the Grip 4. A little frustrating since this car mount is designed for this product and now does not work as intended with the new mount. If you have any larger phone (Ultra, Pro Max, Large screen, etc) I would NOT consider buying the car mount with the Grip 5 as I assume this would be even worse than my experience is. Last is an observation, that the “throw” distance of the Grip 5 feels shorter because of the larger body/magnets. Not too much of an issue but it just feels tighter in my hands/sometimes uncomfortable because I have on the larger side of hands. Overall great product, I hope the fix their accessories soon to be more compatible with the new Grip 5 or potentially get a “Grip 5.1” where they can fix some of the design issues around the thicker magnets. I would not recommend this product to someone who does use their other accessories, does use wireless charging often, and has larger phone.

Absolute best iPhone grip on the market.

I really enjoyed the first version of this grip but the second blows the first out of the water. Magnetic fixture, but still able to attach to magnetic chargers. Totally destroys the competition. This is a great piece of engineering.

Stays on the Phone, But Not on Anything Else

I’ve been using the Snap Grip 4 for over a year and was excited to try the Snap Grip 5, especially since it no longer relies on adhesive when switching devices. Unfortunately, I’ve found that the Snap Grip 5 doesn’t attach to other MagSafe accessories/mounts as securely as the Snap Grip 4 did. It tends to fall off most of them with minimal force, whereas the Snap Grip 4 required good effort to remove. I suspect the external-facing magnets were weakened to prevent the grip from coming off the phone when detaching from accessories/mounts, but for me, that’s a dealbreaker. I’m switching back to the Snap Grip 4 for now and hoping the next iteration will fix this issue.

Good Overall but...

Same great build quality and function we've come to expect from ohsnap. Comfortable and pass through charging works well. Only odd thing is the magnets seems to be not as strong than the 4. I have a Samsung S25 Ultra and I'm using a thin magsafe case with the grip. I placed my phone on my refrigerator and it slowly slides down. However against stronger metals like my car and my work locker the phone does not slide down. Just seems odd since the 4 did not have this issue and i place my phone on the fridge when cooking and following recipes. Also the grip 5 doesn't have that nice snap when i place it on a mount or the new qi2 charger.
