The New Samsung 9100 Pro SSD

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I heard that the Samsung 9100 Pro SSD was coming out, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. As a leading manufacturer of M.2 NVMe storage, Samsung was lagging behind the competition in offering a true Gen 5 SSD, but no more. With its new Presto controller and latest generation TLC NAND flash, this drive doesn’t disappoint in read/write speed. I have the 1 TB version, which fits well into my laptop, but 2 TB and 4 TB options are also available for those who need more storage. I can already notice an increase in file transfer rates and apps open in the blink of an eye. The drive is staying cool without the need for a heatsink, although one is available as an option.
Samsung has a good reputation for reliability and its Magician software allows for an easy way to keep tabs on the health of the drive, although I still maintain and recommend a systematic backup protocol to prevent any loss of data. The 600 TBW rating for the 1 TB drive and five-year warranty help to provide confidence in the drive’s endurance.
I would strongly recommend the Samsung 9100 Pro SSD as a system or storage drive for anyone with a new computer or those wishing to upgrade from older generation storage for faster file transfer, more reliable gaming or data intensive applications such as photo or video processing.
