Traveler’s Dream & Incredible Sony Fx3 Workstation
on August 14, 2025

This carryon plus the XL camera cube insert are the new home for my Sony Fx3, and I LOVE IT. Makes doing all of my most important gear in carry-on luggage easy, and setting up on shoot location is as easy as popping the top and grabbing gear out of the compartments. I’m able to store my external monitor (espresso) in the laptop sleeve, and have my big laptop in my backpack, making it super easy to create a mobile editing/processing station anywhere.
And it rolls like a dream, super easy to maneuver. Handle feels more secure than my wife’s nice carry-on hardshell.
Sometimes when you put it up above you have to shimmy it a little so the wheels lay flat, but that’s a minuscule gripe on what is fundamentally an excellent roller.
I’ve take it on ~5 trips now and love it. I travel professionally for my job, so I depend on great travel gear.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best solution so far

Received this today with the XL case. Was quite skeptical size it would be right size wise, but I am pleasantly surprised. 2-Z9 bodies perfectly, 7 lenses and accessories. Although I do not travel with all this, I could if I wanted to. Looking forward to seeing how it holds up.

Outstanding Roller Bag

I bought this on Kickstarter and was one of the first round of shipments. I purchase a ton of Peak Design gear and this Roller Pro does not disappoint. Sturdy, high quality build and the aesthetics are awesome. Pairs well with my Coyote 30L Everyday bag. Love it.

Peak Design Nails It Again!

After following the build-up and advertising of this carry-on, I was expecting an exceptional product and I received it. It is handsome to look at and extremely functional. The roller system is the best I've experienced, and the trolley is really a dream and works like "butta." Truly no "slop" just like you promised. Love the tensioned drawbridge hinge. It's obvious that you put this bag through all the tests and it passed with flying colors. The bad news? It was a birthday gift for my wife, and she is too attached to her 30-yr old Hartmann to accept it. Ouch! I'll be buying this gem in the future for me!!!

Great bag - except the wheels
on October 15, 2025

I bought this a couple months ago, generally I'm a big fan of Peak gear and I have a bunch of their stuff. I'm a frequent traveler to the tune of millions of actual flight miles over the last 30 years of my career so my luggage is important to me in that it needs to be highly functional, durable, and should stay below the radar when I'm actually using it. If I notice something bothering me about it, that's not great.
So, I love the weight, the styling, and pockets and compartments. The drawbridge opening is pretty cool and I like how Peak did the low profile handlebar to render more usable space in the bag. The side handles on the bag top and sides are cool and have loosened up a little after a few trips. My only real ding on the bag: the wheels.
I've had eBags, TravelPro, Away, etc in the past and generally speaking their wheels have done the job well and stayed off my radar, they just work. I think the wheels on the Roller Pro are either slightly undersized or maybe the bearings aren't working well. It works great on hard flooring and outdoors like on sidewalks or hotel lobbies. It doesn't push effortlessly on carpeted floors at hotels/airports and any other situation where there's a little drag on the wheels. I find that the handlebar setup at full extension exacerbates the situation in the less-than-smooth flooring situations, it tends to push the bag over because the center of effort is too high when you have to exert extra effort on high drag floor surfaces. It works better of you lower the handlebar to its lower lock setting but it's still not what I would call super well balanced.
I lean more towards thinking the wheels are a bit undersized because it doesn't "curb hop" particularly capably relative to something like a TravelPro. For example going over structured thresholds at hotels or airports - the small bumps that you encounter going into and out of facilities or from sidewalk to street back to sidewalk. The bag tends to lose its balance in those situations which is why I think it's a wheel size issue.
Everything else about the bag has been great, I prefer it due to its capacity and how well it works with the rest of my Peak gear. If Peak revisits the wheel setup it'll be perfect.

Be wary of QC issues with this luggage.

Be wary of quality control issues with this suitcase. I purchased it multiple times and multiple issues were found on each one.
1st - Issue with the hinge making a loud creaking noise that wouldn't go away.
2nd - Issue with the 'draw-bridge' latches (where the hooks go into to secure the lid from being held upright in its' place) being uneven which made the top lid be uneven.
So disappointed as I really enjoyed the luggage otherwise.

Poor Design Choices

I Kickstarted this product, so I was rooting for it. Let me start with the good news: the wheels roll.
Now the bad news.
After two uses, one of the zippers failed near the hinge. You can actually see the zipper pulling off the track at the turn. That's a design flaw. By the third trip, I was packing backup straps just in case the second zipper gave out too.
The laptop compartment eats up 7cm of depth. Most laptops are less than 1cm thick. That's a massive waste of space in a carry on, and it really should be called out in the specs so buyers know what they're giving up.
Two stars instead of one because it does technically hold your stuff. Until the zippers fail.

Looks premium, dont protect laptop
on January 17, 2026

The Peak Design suitcase looks great, but the laptop compartment provides basically zero real protection.
After a 13-hour flight, my laptop screen suffered mechanical damage — a crack that went through the outer casing. The laptop was placed exactly where it’s supposed to be: inside Peak Design’s “protective” laptop compartment, in carry-on, in the overhead bin. There was nothing else in that pocket -- just the laptop. It was in perfect condition before the flight.
So under normal flight vibration and handling, the suitcase didn’t absorb the stress the laptop did. The result: a cracked screen and a ruined start to the trip.
What’s especially frustrating is that I actually love the suitcase otherwise. Conceptually it’s excellent, and it’s genuinely comfortable to use. But now I’m left wondering whether I can safely travel with tech in it at all because the divider between the laptop and the main compartment feels like thin fabric, not a protective wall. During travel it absorbs nothing and transfers the load straight into the device.
Beautiful design, great usability - but if the laptop compartment can’t protect a laptop in a basic real-world flight scenario, that’s a serious failure.
