Best product for 2 - 4 day business trips.

I bought this on the Kickstarter campaign, and it's been amazing so far. Just got it in a couple weeks ago and I'm on my 3rd trip with it. Compared to the hardshell I was using, this is a godsend. I frequently do 2 to 4 day business trips, and this fits everything I need, and having it in the hotel with the ability to open at the top is so, so much better than traditional carry-on size suitcases. It rolls incredibly well, so well that I pushed it in front of me one time to pop my ear buds in my ear and the darn thing rolled so fast I had to run to catch up to it and wound up looking like an idiot in the airport I'm sure. Every pieces of this from top to bottom feels like it was made just for me, and I have no criticism at all. I'd love to see a "full size" version of tis as well for longer trips and checked baggage. I pair this with the backpack as well, and between those two bags, I've got all my tech and all my clothes and boots secure and well packed.

PD Has Outdone Themselves!

Peak Design has utterly redone what people expect in a carry-on bag. The drawbridge opening and carbon fiber are easy to notice, but even mundane things like the wheels are new. You have to touch the bag to appreciate everything that has been put into it - and you will never regret buying one!

So far so good

I’ve only had my Roller Pro 6 weeks-or-so and so far only done about 20 flights with it so it’s early days. However first impressions are positive. Very pleased with the quality look-and-feel, and manoeuvrability is superb. I’m also appreciating small details I didn’t notice in the marketing blurb, for instance the carry handles on all sides are super-useful. So right now I am very happy. Let’s see how it’s holding up after 3 years and another million-or-so miles!

I’ve traveled all over the world with the Roller Pro carry-on and it’s been great. My main issue the case is the terrible screeching noise that the hinges make when opening and closing the case. It’s so loud and really unsettling. Please fix this in the next iteration!!

Not for Seasoned Business Travelers
on February 11, 2026

I wanted to love the Peak Design Roller Pro. And in many ways, I do.
The build quality is excellent. Materials feel premium. The engineering is thoughtful and clearly intentional. You can tell this wasn’t rushed to market — someone obsessed over the details.
That said, as someone who’s been traveling for business for more than three decades — and who lives out of a carry-on most weeks — it ultimately didn’t deliver on usable space the way I’d hoped.
Yes, there’s smart internal structuring. But to maximize capacity, you almost have to use packing cubes. If you love cubes, this may be a non-issue. I don’t. I prefer flexibility and the ability to adjust on the fly. Without cubes, the interior organization actually works against you a bit.
The laptop sleeve is where it really lost me. I don’t know a single heavy business traveler who stores their laptop inside their roller. It lives in a backpack or briefcase for airport access, meetings, lounges, and security. That dedicated sleeve takes up valuable real estate that could have been repurposed for expandable storage or a more flexible interior layout.
In short: beautifully built, impressively engineered, but not optimized for the way seasoned road warriors actually pack.
As much as I wanted this to be “the bag,” my Tumi still wins on practical capacity and real-world business travel usability.
Peak Design makes great gear. This just wasn’t it for me.

The Best Travel Bags

I’ve had the Roller Pro since it was released. I’ve flown with it over a dozen times including internationally. I usually check it and carry on my PD Travel Backpack. The Roller Pro holds up to the abuse of baggage handlers, the fabric is tougher than any hard sided luggage big or small. Any unfortunate scuff that appears is easily wiped off. The wheels roll unbelievably smooth, the Roller Pro feels like it’s floating. If you want bags or luggage that doesn’t suck, then buy Peak Design bags. I’ve been traveling with them since 2018.

Regrets, but I really wanted to love it.

Rather disappointed with this bag. Bought it on the promise that it fits international baggage allowances, spoiler, it doesn't. Particularly Korean airlines and Asiana. More than once I have been that person who had to rotate their bag such that it takes up a lot of linear room in the overhead. It has gotten checked more often than it has ridden in the cabin. Definitely not fitting in the Ryanair sizer (so prepare to check it).
Does work for British Airways and Virgin, if we are being fair.
Not that I care about this part, but it does seem to scuff rather easily. I think it is character, but some people will care.
Rolls really nicely on carpet and smooth surfaces, not so great on the pavements of England or anywhere that peagravel is present. At home, super smooth. Around the airport, super smooth. To the taxi, iffy. On the pavements walking to your hotel, carry it.
Ultimately this bag gets used for my train trips and car journeys. It is a shame that it does not work for my flights as I do like the drawbridge style. As others have mentioned though, the laptop sleeve is rather silly, for multiple reasons the least of which being putting lithium batteries (like the one in a laptop) in the overhead is forbidden and some airlines do check.

I am an industrial designer myself and I appreciate all the great observations and clever ideas that went into designing this product. The lifetime warranty combined with the fantastic quality of PD products makes me happy, knowing I will have this item forever - like, okay roller bag is covered now! An absolut recommendation!
