This speaker is great to throw in my work bag for days in the office. It’s light and compact but lives up to the Bose quality! This speaker will be going on all my vacations as our in room entertainment!

Durable and User-Friendly

The Bose SoundLink Flex, true to brand, has amazingly powerful sound for its small size and is packed with thoughtful features.  This model is built for adventuring, particularly with friends.  Don't let the size fool you; this is a party speaker.  It can even connect with other portable Bose speakers in cases where you want more coverage.
The battery life is enough to keep your musical motivation going through a full day of travel.  I was not able to charge my phone from the Flex as with its larger cousin the SoundLink Max, so don't expect it to double as a power bank if that is a priority for you.  In terms of size, this is a Goldilocks speaker.  It won't fit in your pants pocket (though you can carry it in the kangaroo pocket of a hoodie), and I wouldn't take it on ultra lightweight backpacking trips where every ounce counts, but it's just the right size to hang off of a pack and take camping or boating.  It's also perfect for beach or pool parties where you want a solid sound system that can stand getting wet.
As someone who does a lot of outdoor adventure travel, this is the long-wearing speaker I've always wanted.  While the price point makes it an investment that I would normally think twice about risking on rough trips, the Flex is durable enough to withstand rain or hard bumps, and the sound quality is worth the cost.  The built-in webbing loop makes it easy to hang from a hook or carabiner, and I feel confident hanging it from a backpack without having to fret about it bumping around.  The loop itself isn't replaceable but seems durable enough to last.  The silicon coating can pick up dust, but it's extremely easy to clean due to the water resistance; just give it a rinse.  It even floats so can survive an accidental plunge with no rescue diving required!
There is almost no learning curve but plenty of options for customization through the app.  It's extremely easy to connect to devices or other speakers via Bluetooth, adjust the EQ, and set a shortcut.  There aren't many buttons to learn, but you can make it yours within about five minutes of opening the box.  I'm the kind of person who listens to music a lot, because it makes everything- even homework or housework- feel more epic.  The Flex works for that just as well as for true, outdoor adventures.  So, if you want your next excursion with friends to have an epic soundtrack, this speaker is a solid choice!

Small speaker with the perfect sound. It’s nice, light and portable. You can take it to a picnic or just play around to the house with it not be overly loud. The sound is really amazing. I look at it as a mini version of the max.

Big sound, small & light package

An excellent portable speaker that packs way more sound than you'd expect for its size. This isn't the smallest or lightest Bluetooth speaker out there, but it is small and light enough to truly be on-the-go friendly. I enjoy photography, so I'm already lugging around gear and don't want a big, heavy speaker to add to the mix. It doesn't add much to your backpack or luggage, so you'll be more tempted to bring it with you than, say, the SoundLink Max, which I also have. While the Max is demonstrably better and more powerful, the sheer size and weight makes you think twice about bringing it anywhere. The occasion must call for it. This speaker is often a no-brainer to toss in your bag. Surprisingly, it does have speakerphone support, unlike the Max, which is nice to see. Thanks to no WiFi or "smarts", battery life is also very good. It does drain faster the higher you crank the volume, so if you plan to blast it for hours on end you'll likely want a USB-C battery with you. But more likely than not, it'll cover your entire event, no problem. I used it often while on a trip for a week - mostly at lower volumes - and never actually needed to charge it. It feels well built and substantial, despite being light enough to carry with you. Overall, really exceptional audio quality. You'll be amazed at the bass it pumps out - especially if you increase it via the EQ in the Bose app. Unfortunately, there is no AUX port, nor can you do audio via USB-C. Perhaps that can be enabled via a software update, but I wouldn't count on that, so you are limited to Bluetooth connectivity. There are certainly cheaper options out there for something like this, but you'll be hard pressed to find something with this level of audio quality and portability, so the price seems justified. If you primarily care about audio quality - and don't care about price or size or weight - the Max is the way to go. But if you want any real semblance of portability, you won't be disappointed by this. I don't have the Micro to compare against it, but this is only slightly more and seems like the right call.

Toddler Dance Parties!

I’m a busy work from home dad with two very active toddlers at home. The speaker is perfect for moving around the house anywhere work or kids take me. In normal Bose fashion the quality of the speaker is darn near perfect. The small speaker is a great catalyst for lots and lots of toddler dance parties. There is no real perfect product and there are a few things that this speaker does well, and a few not so well:
- Pros
- great compact design; the small design makes it perfect to maneuver wherever great sound is needed
- Party mode!!! Having the ability to link to another sound link speaker is awesome!
- Cons
- The way the product sits upright it falls over with just a little bit of shaking, played it a lot laying down
- No cover on the charging port (with little kids around they may try to put something in the port)
- The material on the outer cover is a rubber like material that shows dust really well
Takeaway: If you want a high quality speaker at an affordable price this is the speaker. Other than a few minor inconveniences this product delivers on all levels like all Bose products do.

Hello, thanks for leaving your recent review of the SoundLink Flex 2nd Gen!

It's fantastic to hear how the speaker has integrated into your busy life with two active toddlers! As a father of a 3 year old, myself, I know exactly how hectic it can be and I can completely appreciate how the small size allowing easy grabbing and relocating is a major benefit!

I will be sure to pass on feed back regarding it falling over, and also the lack of charging port cover (I'd imagine, however, this would be something you could purchase as a third party accessory as not everyone will have the same use-case as yourself)

Thanks again, happy listening!

Party Mode Activated!

Named this speaker "Tiny Giant" because as small/portable it is, you'll still be able to bring the tunes wherever life takes you. Recently, brought the speaker with me on a trip. Fit nicely in my backpack with minimal weight added, not enough to feel I'm lugging around a heavy device. To me being able to listen to music as I get ready for the day or wind down is crucial, so big, big plus that this is a tiny but mighty lil speaker. I expect nothing less than a crisp yet smooth sound and this speaker delivers. When I'm at home that's when the real party begins, with the use of party mode between the SoundLink Flex and my Bose SoundLink Max. While doing chores and in/out of multiple spaces, situating one speaker in the kitchen and one in the living is quite the experience. It's feels luxurious even to be able to go about and not miss any music or my favorite podcasts. Impressed that there isn't a delay between the speakers too. Can't rave about this system enough and the speakers themselves.

This portable speaker is a great all around! It’s small and lightweight, making it easy to take anywhere without compromising sound. I love that it's waterproof, so I can enjoy my favorite podcasts or music in the shower without worry. The battery life is impressive, I've had it for a couple weeks and haven't had to charge it since the initial charge. It's also rugged enough for outdoor adventures so I feel confident that I can take it anywhere without worrying about damaging it.
