Great laptop with a BIG screen

I have bought about 10 Asus Laptops through the years and 3 desktops to keep my accounting firm operating at top speed with gaming computers with fast processors to run multiple programs and I would use no other computers and I love the 18 in screen. I am legally blind, so I need the biggest screen possible when I go ro various meetings or travel between states, been waiting on this one.

The Most Frustrating Setup Process Ever

As best as I can tell, the setup process for my ASUS TUF 18 was confounded chiefly by two apps; Armoury Crate and MyASUS.
Everytime I installed other applications that required a Restart, I would get a title screen for ASUS that reads "SYSTEM UPDATES ARE UNDERWAY. PLEASE KEEP YOUR DEVICE PLUGGED IN AND TURNED ON"
Everytime without fail this screen would put the computer into a frozen state, never advancing,...the process never completing and I would have to force shutdown the computer and power back up to circumvent it.
Eliminating the problem seemed impossible and required hours of research to determine that the only fix was to uninstall MyASUS and Armoury Crate as well as make some system changes concerning automatic updates.
It is also maddening that Armoury Crate cannot be uninstalled via the "Add or Remove Programs" option in Windows. Rather, a special Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool must be installed to handle this.
There is nothing to inform me of this requirement. I only learned of it during the hours of research I had to conduct to fix these issues for myself.
It was more effort and time than I would ever want to have to expend to setup a new computer. In fact, I initiated a return of my ASUS TUF 18 and due only to how challenging the return process was made by STAPLES where I purchased the laptop, I was forced to wait until the following Monday before I could ship the item back,...I decided to spend the extra time that I would be stuck with the laptop troubleshooting and researching possible fixes.
The laptop itself is a great laptop in terms of its hardware and capabilities. It has very fast processing, decent SSD storage, the bare minimum of acceptable RAM which is made acceptable by its type and speed(DDR5 5600mhz) and most impressively, to get an RTX 5050 at its price was, in my opinion and absolute steal.
In retrospect, however, I would have settled for less if I had a smoother setup experience.
It really has been frustrating to the point of "Rage Quit" levels for me.
I give a 1 Star Review due to this highly troublesome experience.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We do understand your disappointment with the laptop and the inconvenience this may have caused if setting up Windows initially is furstrating.Typically, the prompt, "SYSTEM UPDATES ARE UNDERWAY. PLEASE KEEP YOUR DEVICE PLUGGED IN AND TURNED ON" will pop up after installing applications. Since Windows roll out periodic updates, drivers or software may not work properly. Therefore, installing update to keep optimum system stability and performance is necessary. During the update, the laptop may seem unresponsive, or will auto restart, because updates are being installed and applied in the background. This updates may take longer depending on your internet services stability and traffic from the Windows update server. Indeed, Armoury Crate and My ASUS applications are preinstalled sofware that will help users manage system updates easily.
