Clutch problems

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sadly, I am on my third Maytag washer since March 2025. The first 2 were the same model. Both had clutch issues. This third model is different with hopes that there would be no issues, however, it appears to be doing the same thing. Clunking sound when it shifts into different cycles. I would like to know if Maytag is getting other calls with this same issue ???
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Don't recommend it for large loads.
on December 5, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a Maytag washing machine a month ago and I'm not very satisfied with the purchase. It can't wash heavy loads, for example: blankets, jackets, jeans (no more than four items). It's very sensitive and stops the wash cycle every time it starts the spin cycle. I'm thinking of returning the Maytag washing machine; I don't recommend it for large loads. It's very modern, but very expensive for what it offers.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We regret that you are having these concerns with your Washer. Please see the following for troubleshooting for this issue. Excessive washer vibration or "out-of-balance" noise is common. Correcting the cause is key for optimal performance and longevity. The primary cause of severe shaking and noise is an unevenly distributed load, especially with bulky items. This leads to loud noise, the washer "walking," reduced spin speed, longer cycles, and wet clothes. Self-Correction: Modern washers use sensors to detect imbalance. They pause the spin, may add water, gently tumble clothes to redistribute the load, and re-attempt the spin. If unsuccessful, the machine aborts the high-speed spin and may display an error. (See product resources for manual correction.)Proper Loading Prevent vibration by not packing clothes tightly. Place items in loose heaps, ensuring weight is evenly distributed around the agitator/impeller.Heavy or Large Items Bulky or highly absorbent items require special care to maintain balance: Check Labels: Verify the item is machine washable. "Doughnut" Technique: Arrange highly absorbent items (e.g., quilts, blankets) in a ring around the wash basket, keeping the center clear. Balance Single Items: Wash one large, absorbent item (e.g., a rug) with two or three similar items to balance the total weight. Group Similar Items: Wash items of similar material and weight together. Maintain Impeller Visibility: Ensure the impeller base is visible; do not overpack. Avoid Overloading: Load loosely, not exceeding the top row of basket holes. No Extra Water: HE (High-Efficiency) washers use low water levels for optimal friction and cleaning. Too much water causes floating, poor cleaning, and imbalance. (See product resources for washing bulky items.) Washer Level The washer must be perfectly level and stable on the floor for vibration-free operation. Four-Point Contact: All four leveling feet must firmly contact the floor. The Rock Test: If the washer rocks when gently pushed diagonally, it needs adjustment. Consequence: An unlevel washer causes the basket to hang off-center, leading to imbalance, excessive noise, and preventing correct spinning. Tools: Use a carpenter's level or a phone-leveling app. Drain Pans: If using a drain pan, extend or adjust the leveling legs to ensure even weight bearing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced a made in USA Maytag top of line, I was able to have 9 years of service with. The transmission went in the old one. With the new one, there was no manual, just a quick start that has limited info. Had I know how slowly the machine started—5,4,3,2,1 count down then a blank screen I would not have thought it was damaged. I returned this one and had another delivered. Online info is difficult to find or is it none existent?!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We regret that you are having these concerns with your Washer. Please see the following troubleshooting tips:
Step 1: Check Water Supply Ensure Hot and Cold supply valves are fully open. Both hot (red) and cold (blue) hoses must be connected. Step 2: Inspect Hoses and Inlets Hoses: Straighten kinks. Verify correct hot/cold connection alignment. Inlet Screens: Turn off valves, disconnect hoses, inspect/clean/replace clogged mesh filters inside washer inlets. Anti-Flood Devices: Remove these; connect directly to standard supply valves for best pressure. Hose Clogging: Disconnect and check the flow into a bucket. Replace hose if flow is restricted. Step 3: Check Drain System (Prevent Siphoning) Siphoning prevents correct water level sensing. Insertion Depth: Hose must not extend more than 4.5 inches (113 mm) into the drainpipe. Air Gap: Do not seal the hose into the pipe; a loose gap is required to break siphoning. Minimum Height: Drainpipe top must be at least 39 inches (99 cm) from the floor.

Not as tough as the older model.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this washer and dryer because I had the previous model of the same washer and it was a workhorse. This model unbalances each time something heavy is in it. Also not sure I like all the electronics.
