[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Check Vent light turns on during each drying cycle.
It's a new machine. There is no problem with the vent.
Don't understand why the light turns on. Whirlpool Tech said the light turns on just as a remi
nder to clean lint screen or check vent. According to your manual, when check light does turn on there's a problem with the vent. ONCE AGAIN "IT'S A NEW MACHINE,THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VENT!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We regret that you are having these concerns with your Dryer. The "Check Vent" indicator (or AF error code) signals restricted airflow, a critical safety and performance issue, active only during Automatic Cycles.

How it Works: The dryer senses airflow at the start of an automatic cycle. If restricted airflow or a blocked vent is detected, the "Check Vent" light illuminates and remains on until the cycle ends, the Power button is touched, or the door is opened. The light will persist in subsequent cycles until the root cause is fixed. Restricted airflow causes long dry times, excessive energy use, and a potential fire hazard.

Troubleshooting Steps:
Clear the Display Code: Touch any key if an AF code is on the screen.
Clean the Lint Screen: Clean the screen before every load, ensuring no residue buildup.
Inspect Behind the Dryer: Pull the dryer out. Check that the flexible vent is not crushed, kinked, or bent and is free of lint.
Check External Exhaust: Run a heated cycle. Go outside and verify the airflow from the vent cap is strong (like a hair dryer on high). If weak, the entire system is clogged. Clean all lint and ensure the exhaust flaps open fully.
Review Installation: Consult the Installation Instructions. Confirm the vent system's length and number of elbows are within the manufacturer's maximum recommendations.
Final Test/Professional Help: If the message persists, run a Timed Dry cycle. If the issue remains, contact a qualified venting specialist or HVAC professional for a thorough cleaning.
A specialized dryer vent test kit (part #W11224254) is available for accurate diagnostic testing of vent restrictions. To order, contact Customer Service.

A Frustrating Experience
on February 2, 2026

from Rock Hill, SC
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the dryer brand new and had it completely stop working a little over a month later, not even turning on. To Whirlpool's credit, they are fixing the issue, though it is taking two appointments wherein I have to be home and able to interact with the technician between 8am and 4pm in subsequent weeks, as the issue (a fried circuit/control board) was not able to be fixed during the first visit, which negatively impacts my ability to work, as needing to be available for 8-hour spans on two different workdays is significantly limiting. If the issue being fixed results in the dryer working fine from there on out, then I may be inclined to rate this dryer higher. Also, if you find yourself needing to book a repair appointment, be sure to do so online, as it takes only about 5 minutes to do so, whereas when I originally called to do so over the phone I was on hold for over 2 hours without reaching anyone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Simple, uncomplicated dryer
on February 2, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dryer has a simply uncomplicated design and is very easy to use. It gets the job done and I love the sensing feature. Most times I don’t have to figure out how long to time the dryer, it does the work for me. I’ve only had to re-dry once and that was because the fitted sheet was hiding a couple of items. Still, I would highly recommend this dryer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Grrrr…. Do NOT like this dryer. It shouldn’t take an hour and a half to dry a very small load of clothes. No matter what setting you put it on it takes much too long to dry your clothes. There goes the electricity

Thank you for sharing your insights with us. We value your time and would like to look into the concerns with your Dryer. Please see the following for some troubleshooting tips:
Dryer Troubleshooting for Long Dry Times: Key Checks
Heating: Check if the dryer is producing heat (run a heated cycle for 5 minutes and feel inside).
Venting & Airflow: This is the most likely cause if the dryer is heating.
Cleanliness: Clean the lint screen after every use and occasionally clean residue from fabric softener. The house vent line should be cleaned every one to two years.
Obstruction: Verify the outside exhaust hood is not blocked (must be 12" from ground/objects).
Condition: Ensure the vent is not crushed and is made of 4" diameter heavy metal material (not foil/plastic).
Length: Keep the vent run as short and straight as possible.
Cycle Selection: Use an automatic cycle for best performance. Note that the EcoBoost™ option will increase drying time by approximately 40 minutes.
Error Codes: An AF or "Check Vent" error code indicates restricted airflow/clogged vent. Touch any key to clear.

Does Not Dry Laundry
on February 18, 2026
Posted by: Peep
from Clinton Township, Mi
Got this dryer less than 2 weeks ago(the one I wanted wasn't in stock so I accepted this one for the same price). It puts out no heat so it takes AT LEAST two 90minute cycles to actually get laundry dry. The dryer stays ice cold inside. I've done everything from clearing the ducts(which had almost no lint) and going through the fuse panel. It's perfectly level as well. So disappointed.

Long drying time
on January 10, 2026
Posted by: noname
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a month ago and am not totally happy. It seems to take sooooo long to dry my clothes. I had the towels in for over an hour and they were still damp. I clean out the lint holder faithfully each use. It was installed by the driver so I don't know what the problem is

Hello,
We value your time and would like to look into the concerns with your Dryer.
Damp or wet clothes after a dry cycle usually indicate issues with airflow, cycle selection, or installation, often not a dryer malfunction.
1. Clean the Lint Screen: Mandatory: Clean the lint screen after every use. A clogged screen blocks airflow, extends drying time, wastes energy, and is a fire hazard. Wash the screen with soapy water if fabric softener residue builds up.
2. Check for AF/Check Vent Codes: Modern dryers signal venting restrictions with "AF" or "Check Vent" lights on some models.
3. Test Exterior Airflow:
Run the dryer on heat for 5–10 minutes.
Check the exterior exhaust hood.
Assessment: Airflow should be strong (like a hair dryer on high).
Action: Weak flow means a clogged vent line that requires thorough cleaning from the dryer to the exterior.
4. Clean the Home Venting Line: Long drying times with adequate heat strongly suggest a vent restriction.
Maintenance: Clean the entire vent system every 1-2 years, or immediately if performance drops.
Benefits: Reduces drying time and energy cost, increases airflow, and dramatically lowers the fire risk.
Tools: Whirlpool Dryer Vent Testing Kit (Part #W11224254) for proactive assessment. Contact Whirlpool for order.
Cycle Selection and Settings
Improper settings frequently cause dampness.
1. Use Automatic Cycles: Always use automatic, sensor-based cycles (Normal, Heavy Duty) for efficiency. They shut off when dry.
If Damp: Select a "More Dry" or "High Temperature" setting.
Timed Cycles: Only use for small, single, or lightly damp items. Avoid overloading.
2. Avoid Steam Cycles for Drying: Steam cycles (Wrinkle Release, Steam Refresh) introduce moisture to relax wrinkles and remove odors from already dry clothes. They are not a primary drying method and can leave small, light loads feeling damp due to condensation.
Is the Dryer Level? An unleveled dryer prevents clothes from consistently contacting the moisture sensors inside the drum, causing misreadings, premature shutoff, and damp clothes.
