Such a fun set for my boys!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids love building things, and this was our first time trying a Mattel Brick Shop kit. I have two boys, 8 and 10, and they worked happily together to put this kit together. Our family has a special love for vintage Corvettes, so it was a really fun kit! The doors and hood open and close on hinges, which is neat. It is definitely fragile once put together - not a toy to "play with" by driving it around in play, because it's brick-style and fragile. However even when pieces fell off, my kiddos were able to rebuild those sections again. Being such a large and complex set, I'm not sure my kids will want to take it apart and rebuild it for awhile - it sits on display as a huge accomplishment for them! But they both told me they would love to get more of these sets, and that this was their favorite of our brick-type sets we own! The pieces come in well labeled packages, and the instruction book is well designed and easy to understand. It came with some extra pieces as well, to add on additional features to customize if you want. It also came with stickers to customize it, which is one reason my kids don't want to take it apart and start over again - it would ruin their sticker designs they added. They loved that it came with a mini Hot Wheels car of the same design! This is definitely something we want to get more of!!

Impressively detailed model.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first Hot Wheels building set and I am amazed by the quality build feel and looks of the finished product. Another bonus is the matching 1:64 Hot Wheels car to display together. The build instructions are highlighted well but there is still plenty of challenge in assembly.

Defective Design

I purchased this set a couple weeks ago, and was excited to get started on the build. This Corvette is a great looking vehicle, and I was looking forward to putting it on display.
Unfortunately, the building experience was terrible. Some pieces fit loosely together, others were perfect, and still others were nearly impossible to snap together. The size tolerance of the pieces is unacceptable. In addition, there were two major design flaws which almost caused me to stop and discard the entire set. Since there are many good reviews, I have to assume my set was defective. Flaw One - when the steering assembly is properly build the 2 front tires both aim in. If I attempt to straighten one wheel out, the other wheel turns in even further in. It's impossible to get both wheels straight. I unassembled and reassembled 2 more times, and the results were the same. Flaw Two - neither front wheel properly fit inside the front wheel wells. Once squeezed inside, the wheels can't be turned at all. Again, i assembled and disassembled 3 times and the results were the same.
I REALLY wanted to love the Hot Wheels Brick Shop cars as they are all beautiful, but I will not purchase any more as this build was a "train wreck".

This Corvette is AWESOME!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really enjoy putting the corvette together. I put it together in my office area where I keep some of my other collectibles. I liked the fact that the instructions were super easy to follow. I did have a little difficulty with getting the metal rims on, but other than that, it was a fun experience. I will add it with my Barbie corvette. ;)

Great Building Set with Customized Features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My thirteen year old son enjoyed building this set. He is an experienced Lego builder and in total took him about 5.5 hours to complete. The pieces were nicely made, high quality, and snapped in perfectly. The customized feature is a wonderful part that lets the builder create using additional ideas. The model itself is very detailed when compared to the original vehicle. The age rating is spot on at 10+.

Fun Corvette Build with Cool Details

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Corvette build set was a fun and rewarding project. My son spent about six hours completing it, and overall, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Some pieces took a bit longer to connect, but the finished car looks great. The working doors and steering wheel are very cool and add a realistic touch.
However, the hood and trunk weren’t operable as shown in the manual. When he tried to open them, the pieces came apart, so he left them closed. Despite that, it was a great activity and a fun build overall.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing piece of American history!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly i loved this building model. It is a beautiful American classic car to start. Following the instructions was easy. I took a little time each day to work on it. All in all it too mayne 7 or 8 hours to build all together. And it can out incredible. I absolutely love how realistic it is. Down to the details of the dashboard. It fit perfectly in my action figure display. Thank you mattel for allowing me this gift to build and review.

Perfect for tweens and teens.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great product. My son loves legos and this gave him something similar to build. We especially liked that it came with an actual hot wheel that matched the model. He put it together in no time and had fun doing it. He likes that the engine looks like a real engine when you lift the hood. I think it is a great addition that you can go on to customize your car to make it your own.
