Hard to use and wastes vegetables

I bought this with a gift card and was very excited to try it as I make a lot of salads and love to make my food look good. I tried various blades on carrots, beets, and cucumbers. It did make pretty vegetables for my salad, but it made a huge mess with juice dripping all over and beet juice sprayed on my walls and counters. It was very tricky to get the vegetables onto the holder, and a lot was wasted as a large core - or as scraps that fell off while it was turning. It looks so simple to use and I'm fairly skilled in the kitchen, but I really struggled with this and then stuck it away in a drawer. It's also a bit of work to clean up. I feel I wasted money on this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a gift about a year ago. I tried to like it but I just do not. I have never had luck with it no matter what vegetable I use. I guess I will just use it for apples
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Started a no starch no sugar diet. The spiralizer comes in handy making our favorite pasta dishes with vegetables.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this after seeing so many yummy-looking and healthy recipes using spiralized veggies. It is easy to put together, operate and clean. The zucchini and onions I used came out perfect. I'm looking forward to trying it on some beets and carrots next.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I accidentally put the skewer to my spirializer in the garbage disposer. I contacted KitchenAid to get a replacement and they offered to send me one free of charge. Unfortunately it was back ordered, so a few weeks later I called back to see if there was an expected date of arrival, but there was no estimated date. The woman on the phone did not hesitate and offered to send me a completely new spirializer free of charge! I was absolutely amazed that this company was willing to replace the entire set for my mistake. I'm a KitchenAid customer for life!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great attachment. I have been spiralizing by hand for years. This makes the process so much more fun and fast. The only knock I have on it is you do need to cut your vegetables down in size to fit in it. Not a big deal, it increases the waste but only slightly. It consistently delivers the perfect cut, which is more than I can say for other tools.
