Design flaw

I find that you waste a lot of zucchini and squash with this product. The spiked base which holds the zucchini on is much too small. It cannot get a grip on larger zucchinis because it only grabs into the seeded section. The base just drills into the zucchini and causes it to quit spinning. The only time I have any success with this is when I use it on small very firm squash.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the spiral Lizer and peeler attachment, because I was tired of doing everything by hand when my purchase came in in I went to the store and bought a bunch of squash and zucchini. I read the instructions and washed the attachments and the veggies. I then cut the vegetables in half per instructions and away I went the making spiral veggies and it was so fast and fun to do! I love this attachment!!

Best Spiralizer Out There

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been owning a KitchenAid stand mixer for many years and have recently wanted a spiralizer. Thankfully, before I bought one of those rinky-dink models out there that would be a single-use product, I discovered there is a KitchenAid attachment for this! I knew this option would offer quality and be much more powerful. I just used it this weekend - I LOVE this thing!! It is easy to use, extremely fast, without any cranking and without any clogging. Best kitchen purchase that I’ve made in a while!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used this twice, once for zucchini noodles, once for a beet salad. Worked well both times.

We got one of these as a wedding gift. Ours looks a bit different than the picture though. We tried to peel potatoes with it and the stupid peeling blade could not adjust to the variations in potato sizes very disappointed. Looked to be a promising add on to the mixer.

Saves your back, but there's a catch.

Overall this attachment works fairly well, but for the price I'd expect it to work better. I ordered this attachment after my wife & I had prepared around 100 lbs of apples, manually, over a couple of days, & we still had several hundred pounds to go. Initially I tried a couple of the blades to see how they worked. The blades worked fine, but none of these blades will peel & core only, which is all we needed. And we needed apple wedges, thicker than these blades provided. So we only used the peeling blade. Over 2 days, we processed around 300 lbs of apples with the peeling blade. Even with the "issues" I had with the blade carrier (see below), the peeling blade saves a TON of time. Our backs were killing us on the first group due to standing & manually peeling the apples, for hours. This peeling blade allowed us to process more apples in less time with SUBSTANTIALLY less back pain from standing. Before I purchased this attachment, I watched several videos of it being used. The owner in one of the videos said this is their "go to" device when it's apple season. I understand & agree with him now. Cons - the "blade carrier" is made from some form of "plastic type" of material, that slides along the metal bar of the main body. Initially everything worked perfectly. After a while, the blade carrier would stop sliding on the bar, like it was in a bind. When it does this, the peeling blade just slices a groove into the apple. The bar the blade carrier slides on, is manufactured with KitchenAid in raised letters. I determined the blade carrier is binding on the raised letters, causing the carrier to twist slightly, therefore preventing the carrier from traveling. I tried adding a light coat of olive oil to the bar, but that only marginally helped & it left a black residue on the metal bar from the blade carrier. The solution was to apply slight pressure on the Release lever, while holding the blade carrier so it doesn't bind on the KitchenAid letters. Once I discovered this solution I was back in business.

Butternut squash

Be careful with firm veggies, like butternut squash. Make sure it is good and ripe. Mine was too hard and I bent the blade. Don't be in a hurry or think you'll whip up dinner in no time. I found this to be a lot of work.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this attachment to make Apple Roses and Apple strudel. Used the thin slicer with the larger corer for the roses, and included the peeler for the strudel. Saved so much time. Absolutely love it.
