I have owed this product for about four years and use it a few times a year at most, yesterday while making a smoothie within seconds it began smoking and smelled like it was burning. The blades at the bottom had melted and
bent up into the blending jug. The base is ripped up and
the outside of the jug looks melted as well. Bits of black plastic went up into the smoothie mix. Scary to think the blades could have come out if it had been used for a few more seconds.

Stylish and great for smoothie bowls!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old blender broke so I wanted to upgrade as I use it daily: enter the KitchenAid K400!
I primarily was looking for a stylish black matte blender I could keep out on my limited kitchen bench space (and that blended into my black tiles), while being able to make thick smoothies for my daily smoothie bowl. This hit everything I wanted and is even quieter than my old one!
I love it and am glad I decided to buy this over some other blenders I was comparing with.
It's also really pretty even though I went a very understated black.

I use it daily for blending frozen berries/bananas/milk etc. if that makes it helpful for someone deciding to purchase.
Only negative thing I've found so far is accessories are add-ons, so if you want a smaller jug, you will need to pay extra for that.
Overall I recommend it so far (used once to twice daily for about a month at this point).
I would recommend this to a friend!
