For the last generations I have been getting folds, and I love them. Sadly, I know I am a minority on this though, but I went ahead and return it due to lacking a lot of the features I love of the Fold lineup. The inner display camera, the s-pen support, and the narrow aspect ratio on the front screen display; making the inner display more of a wide screen display rather than a square display.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased the fold 5 2 years ago and loved it. I worked on a golf course for those 2 year with 60+ sand bunkers leaving my pockets full of sand daily and I never had an issue with any scratches on either of the screen. And the fold 7 is way better. From the size of the front screen to the camera and how thin it is, this phone is hands down the best phone on the market
- It doesn't feel heavy despite being a foldable. - Doesn't get hot when you run games. - Both screens have good brightness color accuracy and fast refresh rate. - I like the back end cameras but I miss the better optical zoom compared to the ultra. - The speakers are nice and are loud enough for me. - The wireless charging coil on the back should have been a little lower, some charging pads have trouble because of the camera bump. It works well if you buy a mag safe compatible cover and charger combo. - The wobbling because of the camera bump is an issue but it can be managed by a good cover. I have the Nillkin Iceblade CamProp. - The RAM, CPU and GPU are fast enough to run the graphically demanding games I like to play like Genshin Impact. - I find the battery life sufficient for my workflows, but I wish they could support faster charging speeds.
I loved my Fold 6, and I genuinely hesitated to upgrade. This wasn’t a “must-upgrade” year on paper. But after using the Fold 7, I can say clearly: this is a meaningful upgrade, especially if you value comfort and fluidity.
First, the weight reduction is massive. This is the single biggest difference. The Fold 7 feels dramatically lighter in the hand, and that changes the entire daily experience. If you’ve ever felt foldables were just a bit too heavy, this alone might justify the upgrade.
The phone is also noticeably faster. It’s not night-and-day in raw speed, but everything feels smoother and more effortless. App switching, multitasking, and animations flow better — and yes, the jump from 12 GB to 16 GB of RAM is palpable. Things just move more easily. There’s less friction everywhere.
The slightly larger outer display also matters more than spec sheets suggest. Going from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches doesn’t sound huge, but in daily use, it absolutely is. The cover screen feels more usable, more “normal,” and more comfortable for quick interactions.
I do miss the S Pen support, but honestly, it’s not a deal-breaker. I didn’t use it often — it’s more about knowing the option was there. For me, the tradeoff was worth it given how much lighter and more refined the phone feels.
Bottom Line
If you loved the Fold 6 and are on the fence:
If weight matters to you, upgrade — no question.
If you value smoothness, multitasking, and overall ease, the Fold 7 delivers.
And if you can afford it, I’d recommend the upgrade 100%.
This is one of those upgrades that doesn’t scream at you on day one — it just makes everything easier, lighter, and better every time you pick it up.
I first got the 25, I like a bigger screen, but didn't want the line of the fold. Then I saw a flip and the line wasn't noticeable, so I traded my 25 and went with the fold. I do not regret it! Honestly the fold crease is barely noticeable, and the transition from fold to unfold is smooth. The screen colors are crisp and transitioning between aps is smooth. I am honestly glad I took the leap and got the fold. It's not thick like I thought it would be, and not extremely heavy. Again it's small but mighty! Another knock outta the park for Samsung.
