Received on 1/3/25. Used for the first time the morning of 1/4/25. One of the main reasons we bought this model was for silent mode. It does not work. I called and submitted a form. I was told it has to be reset every time. That's not true according to the manual. It's just not working. No help so far. I want either a replacement or refund. No help. I am so frustrated.

Got this Sharp Carousel countertop microwave as a gift. It replaced another Sharp microwave of similar dimensions/power that was at least 30 years old and still working fine. The new inverter technology definitely allows this version to cook/reheat items better. My absolute favorite preset is the sensor reheat. Reheated meals, no matter whether they go in at room temperature or cold from the refrigerator come out at a perfect temperature and not burned or overcooked. The defrost function also works better than the old oven which would sometimes start to cook portions of the food while other parts were still frozen. That doesn't happen with the new one. The popcorn preset works well but you definitely have to monitor the popping carefully and stop the popping immediately when the popping slows down. If you do this you will get perfect popcorn. If you don't you will get scorched popcorn. The melt/soften preset leaves something to be desired especially when trying to soften butter. There are better ways to soften butter (set the power level to 10% and microwave for a minute or two). The extensive operation manual needs improvement. It takes a lot of reading and rereading. Parts of it are quite confusing and sometimes downright contradictory. I still on occasion take it out and reread about a certain function usually coming away with an improved understanding. All in all I am absolutely delighted with this microwave. I give it five out of five stars. I give the instruction manual 2 1/2 stars.
More uniform heating than my prior microwave. Was not aware that the interior dimension was approximately inch into an inch and a half smaller than my prior microwave of the same strength/volume. I do miss a custom defrost option based on my inputted weight rather than the pre-programmed weights. Quiet when operating.
This is a great microwave. The best part is it is an inverter microwave. Point of fact most microwaves are not inverter and no matter the power level you set, they blast full power. The non-inverter microwaves just reduce how often they blast full power. This is why the non-inverter microwaves cause popping and splattering no matter what you set them on. The inverter microwaves, however, actually reduce the power and keep it on steady at that level. So a much, much better way to go. I like most of the features on this microwave except the sensor ones. Never had much luck with sensor settings so I don't use them. If I had one minor complaint, I wish it was easier to set the power levels and change them during the cooking process since that is my main reason for ordering an inverter microwave.
Worst microwave ever. Slow uneven cooking. Takes 5 minutes to warm coffee. Inconsistent results. Very diappointing.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry you had a negative experience with one of our products. This isn’t the kind of experience we want our customers to have, and we would like to investigate this issue further. If you could please contact us at CRL@sharpsec.com or call us at 800-237-4277.
It works well. However, I noticed the numbers we use the most (1, 2 and 3) on the selection pad are starting to puff up. Is there a plastic cover on top of the number selection pad that I should have peeled off?

Hello, thanks for your question. We cover the 1.4 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave Oven with Inverter Technology (SMC1465HM) with a protective plastic film that should be removed before using it.
So far quite satisfied with overall performance and ease of operation. Takes a minute less to boil water than our old unit that this replaced. Touch pad is straight forward for what we use this for. Same dimensional size as old unit so minimul counter rearranging was needed. Based on pricepoint I would recommend.
