Jug inexplicably now won't rotate

I bought this and for a while thought it was the news knees. I love the cup with blender attachment for quick things like sauces and smoothies. I recently pulled out the jug and realized that it's base is frozen up and it made the blender overheat. I hope I can fix the problem by buying a new jug, but this doesn't make sense. I've had other blenders last forty years and I replaced one of those with this. Very frustrating.

Decent blender but terrible design

Both big and small jars are poorly designed and are super tight to close or open. Super annoying and have to either pour hot water to loosen the grip or use excessive force often requiring two people.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the new blender. Looks amazing. It is relatively quite compared to a blendtec I was using before. I like having presets and the control knob. It has powered through making peanut butter without issues. It overheated once and automatically shut off to protect the unit. After a few minutes it was ready to go again. It has fans that automatically kick on which is great. Everything is very well built. Inspires confidence that it will last. Jar is quite secure to bar during operation. Don’t feel like I have to hold it down. I like having the tamper. Not sure why the scraper tamper is shorter than the standard tamper. I think it would be better if it were longer, but maybe I’m missing something. The personal size jar and blender base work great. It’s nice to have a smaller jar for smaller tasks. Some reviews have complained that the lid on the larger jar is hard to remove. It’s a lot more secure than a blendtec lid and vacuum compatible which I view as a plus. Not hard to remove in my opinion. With the personal jar, it appears that it needs to be tightened more to the blending base but really just medium hand tight is sufficient. Doesn’t fit under cabinet with jar which is ok, I just store jars in cupboard and pull base out when in use. Overall fantastic. No regrets here. Will be buying more Breville products when I can. Expensive, but worth it for me.

Blends anything effortlessly. The result is perfect every time. I made the best pineapple smoothie. It left no pulp or fibres. I use it to blend various ingredients needed for Indian cuisine. Blends coconuts, lentils, spinach, anything to perfection. It also looks great on my counter with the stainless steel theme.

My 20 year old Cuisinart blender died and replaced it with this one. I was hesitant since I love the glass jar I had but WOW suoer q provided me of the best smoothie I have ever had in my life. So smooth. I added strawberries and raspberries and my son hates to taste rhe seeds, but today no, there was no seeds, blended to perfection.
I also made a mayo from the recipe book and it was rated at home as the best mayo of their lives.
I highly recommend this blender.

Beautiful machine, but aggressively terrible lid design

Pros: This blender is absolutely beautiful in person - probably the most beautiful blender I've seen! The base seems extremely sturdy and well designed.
Unfortunately, that's all I've got for pros.
I'm really not sure what Breville was thinking with the blender jar lid design – it takes an incredible amount of force and technique to open the lid, and poses a challenge even if you're really strong. The pull ring does not give you enough leverage to remove the lid, and the design is such that the pull ring will inevitably break one day from repeated openings - it's just too much stress on that fragile clip. But there is no other surefire way to open the lid without damaging it or the jar. The gasket creates an incredibly strong seal, and the lid clips are pretty rigid and don't remove that seal, unlike other lid designs I've seen. If you or the person you're considering buying this for have hand / wrist issues or are elderly, the blender is straight up unusable. If you're really fit and strong, you're still gonna have a bad time.
No matter how the Super Q performs, if the lid is this poorly designed, it doesn't even matter if it's one of the best performing blenders on the market – this blender needs to go back to the drawing board. I haven't even come across another blender, high-end or otherwise, where it's this hard to open the lid. I for one would love to see, you know, the *other* high end blender manufacturer get some more serious competition, but sadly this blender ain't it. Maybe the next iteration of Breville's high-end blender can finally get it right.
