New U-Shaped AC Unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently received and installed our new, U-Shaped Frigidaire AC Unit! As luck would have it, one of our AC units failed just as the hot weather got here. While out researching new AC Units I became aware of Frigidaire's new U-Shaped AC unit! We were so intrigued that we decided to purchase one as a replacement to our failed unit.
This new U-shaped design handily does away with most of the clutzy gap filling methods experienced on the more traditional models. You know, the sliding side panels that never quite fit the gaps and all the foam bits needed to try and block the paths of those pesky bugs that always seem to find a way in to your home!
We got the unit and managed to get it installed in under an hour. Most of that time spent familiarizing ourselves with the instructions for the install. Now, I will say that the install of the unit is a bit more involved than the traditional units we all know but once we had it figured out it went very well. And, while this unit is a bit more work to setup I have to admire just how solid and secure the install process is. I have never seen a more rugged and secure AC unit install in a residential unit. The care and design given to this is excellent! No more worrying about my AC unit falling out of the window when trying to install or remove the unit. That is a great relief as this has always been a concern of ours, especially now that we are getting older.
As I mentioned, this units design gets rid of those folding side panels (which invariably break with age and exposure) by way of the U-shape design. This design allows the window sash to slide down between the blower unit and the condenser (refrigeration) unit. The beauty of this design is, (a) the sash acts as part of the method of securing the unit and (b) there is more light allowed through the window (a feature that my wife loves). This also seems to put less stress on the window sash itself.
In addition, there is a very rugged frame that sits under the unit and provides support to the unit itself. This helps reduce the stress on the actual window frame as well as providing a very rigid base to the unit. This frame has fold out braces that rest against the wall outside the window for even more support! I can tell you, this unit is going nowhere.
Unlike most AC units we have had, this unit also included ALL the foam spacers needed to further secure the install from those pesky bugs. They provide solid spacers for the larger openings, self sealing foam for the contact points between the window sash and the unit, the larger foam pieces for sealing the gap between the upper and lower sashes. They even go so far as to give you some pieces that help dress up (cover up) the frame unit sitting under the unit, another feature that my wife loved.
Once we had the unit installed it only took seconds to power up the unit and get it in operation. The unit control features are very easy and straight forward so we were getting cold air within seconds of turning it on. It even has a feature that oscillates the vent so that the cool air is distributed across a greater area as opposed to the fixed louver vents found on most AC units.
If I had any suggestions for the folks that designed this unit it would be to provide a brighter display. In bright daylight the display is a bit hard to see.
One last comment on this unit that is probably the most important. We installed this unit adjacent to our bedroom. The unit it is replacing was a good unit but it was very loud and made it hard for my wife and I to sleep. We were often forced to run it at the lowest fan setting to compensate. This Frigidaire unit is amazingly quiet! You can barely hear it running, even at full blast! It is such an extra blessing to have the ability to get real cooling relief without the noise!

Such a Breeze

We live in a 100+ year old home with no A/C and this was the perfect addition to cool down our large, top floor, master bedroom. The room gets cool within minutes and is the quietest window A/C unit I’ve come across. The Wi-Fi feature allows me to turn on the unit away from home so that the room is at my perfect temperature when I get home from work. I was able to install this unit on my own and am so impressed with its durable bracket system and simple installation instructions. I can’t say enough about this sleek unit. It’s truly made hot, sleepless nights such a breeze.

Frigidaire is the best way to go

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If I could rate the Frigidaire AC unit a 100 I definitely would. Unexpectedly my AC unit went completely out. I had to order a part for it which was going to take two up to weeks to arrive. If you’re in Georgia you know that is entirely to long to go without air conditioning. So I decided to purchase a Frigidaire window unit. I absolutely loved it. This unit kept my entire room and most of house cold. One of the best features about the unit is that I could control it from my phone. I was surprised to see a window unit operating like an actual in home unit. I was able to adjust the temperature from by phone and once the house reached a certain degrees the window unit would come on. I absolutely loved it. If your thinking about purchasing a window unit, Frigidaire is the best way to go.

Really cools!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is just the air-conditioner I needed. I live in a split-level home that faces west. The afternoon heat can cause temperatures to rise to 80 degrees upstairs, and though we have central air, it just can't keep up on its own. This a/c unit has been a life-saver. I can set it to a specific temperature and it reaches it within minutes, instantly cooling the area. I try to keep the house at 75 and this has helped me to do that now in the few days that I have had it. I like how it defaults to eco-cool (energy saver) option. I also like that I can use an app on my phone to control it. Turning it on from work has been wonderful! A cool house to come home to! The sleep feature is also really nice, keeping the room from being too cold overnight. Set-up wasn't difficult for my husband (with a bit of my help!) and we really liked the side-arm foam insulators, as opposed to traditional pull-out sides. Another plus is the bracket that holds the exterior part of the a/c outside of the window. It made installation a whole lot easier. I'm very pleased with this product and will have a much cooler summer with it!

Excellent Air Conditioner

Also many nice features, not all of which we’ve even tried yet such as the ability to control it remotely. I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

Silent AC

Chemical/acetone smell filled house after 2 summers of use

Have 2 of these for 2 years and really love them. They cool well, install easily, and the best part is the quiet.
Sadly, upon installing them this year, one of them has a chemical/acetone smell that’s filing the house. Perhaps we have a refrigerant leak??? Really hate to lose this unit, will call repair line on it and see what they say. We don’t buy an extended warranty, but this kind of problem with such a pricey item after 2 summers is quite discouraging.

Very quiet, but...

I bought this unit for my bedroom, because I can't stand a noisy air conditioner at night. It is very quiet out in the country--the way I like it. However, the indicator light that shows the air quality is very bright and if I wake even for a second, it disturbs me (it's also nicely dark in the country). I'll have to cover it with some tape. I don't see the use for this light--what am I going to do about the room air quality if it shows up red? Actually, red might not disturb me as much as the green. Otherwise, it's a great air conditioner.
