Love it!

I had tried wearing a watch at night and absolutely hated it. This is extremely comfortable, you do not even know you have it on. There have been several mornings that I forgot I had it on and was walking around the house with it still on my arm.
I only wish the battery lasted longer between charges. From what I read you should get about 7 days...I've gotten 5 at the most, usually 4.

Nice Upgrade
on January 26, 2026

I'd been using a Garmin watch for years to monitor sleep. I wanted something independent of the watch, so I didn't miss out on data while the watch was charging overnight. The Index has been a pleasant upgrade. The cuff is comfortable and stays in place all night. Data is reliable and seems consistent. I haven't used the alarm function much, since I'm usually up before it goes off. Overall, highly recommend!

Need for a Separate Sleep Monitor?
on January 30, 2026

The sleep monitor works great. Battery life is limed to 4 or 5 nights. I am a big Garmin fan. I have the Fenix 5X, Epix and now Fenix 8 AMOLED. I am particularly interested in my sleep data. I found the Index Sleep Monitor on Christmas sale, so I purchased it. I should have done more research first. My understanding is the Sleep Monitor does not perform any features that my Fenix 8 already does, and you need to remove the Fenix 8 at night while wearing the Sleep Monitor. I have no complaints; just found I really didn't need a separate sleep monitor. (The Fenix 8 AMOLED is awesome!)

App is finicky
on February 4, 2026

Bought this a few weeks ago and it's been finicky. The app wasn't connecting and it's so hard to reconnect to your app and get your sleep data uploaded or get your index set up.

Just shy of excellent. Very comfortable, sometimes you forget you're wearing it. Augments a Garmin watch well, but definitely isn't a must have unless you can't / won't sleep wearing your watch.
Unfortunately the device doesn't always pair correctly, and/or has data conflicts with the watch if you don't follow an exact pairing sequence with the app.
This is an avoidable software issue, but at this price point, it really should work seamlessly and out of the box with limited/no headaches and it just doesn't quite reach that point.
I would add that I've learned the right sequence, but one shouldn't have to learn a sequence for the data to just work.

Works great! Great addition to the watch.

How about the index sleep monitor because I cannot wear my watch at night when I see. This is very comfortably on my arm and I don’t even notice it throughout the night. It is small and it’s also made a very comfortable lightweight fabric. I would highly recommend it if you want to know more about your HRV and can’t wear the watch at night.

Finally a Sleep Monitor I Can Sleep With
on February 7, 2026

Seems I've been waiting for a device like this without even knowing I was waiting! I tried every monitor you can imagine, and I just couldn't get right sleeping with something on my wrist all night. And it's a Gamin, so I will spare you all of the details of just how good it is by simply saying that I could not be happier. If you're even kind of thinking about buying one, then think no longer and do it... You will have no regrets...

Unable to recommend

It really can’t tell when I go to sleep. It feels like it needs me to go to sleep at the time I scheduled in the app. My Forerunner watch knows when I go to sleep; surely this should be able as well!
The Velcro is weak. It has come off in the night - I get that it has to be striped so the band can stretch, but the sections of Velcro need to be stronger.
I have no idea why it reports my HRV consistently lower than my watch does. That’s suspicious as well.
Overall, there’s no way I can recommend this. I’m going to return it.
